I am reminded of my obligation to uphold universal human rights and push for freedom from tyranny in China whenever I see this picture. Author Benedict Rogers and I presentated The China Nexus to His Holiness the Dalai Lama who interviewed for the book. @benedictrogers If only our political leaders played more than lip service to the concept, we might pressure China to change? @DalaiLama @opibooks @TibetPeople @SaveTibetOrg @freetibetorg @SikyongPTsering

Jimmy Lai has spent nearly 6 years in a Hong Kong prison. Now his daughter, Claire Lai, has been diagnosed with cancer. Writing in @NRO, @kathrynlopez says that makes Jimmy's release all the more urgent. Claire writes that her father has rarely been overwhelmed by anything. "But when he was told recently that I have cancer, he broke down." Read here: nationalreview.com/2026/09/i… #FreeJimmyLai #BringHimHome

"I’m pleased to announce THE CALL OF FREEDOM, my new book and exhibit at the Bush Center highlighting the courage and resilience of political prisoners and dissidents in the face of tyrants. My hope is that these 44 paintings and the stories that accompany them will inspire that same fearlessness and determination in others. Available for pre-order now and debuting March 9, 2027, this project sends a message that the United States cares deeply about people seeking freedom - and that we who live in liberty have a duty to stand with those who do not.” — President George W. Bush. Visit our website to order and learn more: bushcenter.org/call-of-freed…

Ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the U.S., ICT joined dozens of human rights organizations today in an open letter urging Xi to take immediate, verifiable steps to address China’s human rights record. Together, we are calling for: ➡️ the release of prisoners of conscience ➡️an end to transnational repression ➡️reforms to and repeals of laws and policies that criminalize peaceful expression, religious practice, association and dissent ICT is also calling on President Trump to make Tibet and human rights central to his discussions with Xi and to publicly press for concrete action, including calling on the Chinese government to resume substantive dialogue without preconditions with His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s representatives and democratically elected Tibetan leaders. Beijing is not only panicking by writing bylines against it on @CGTNOfficial and other govt. platform but is seen to pressurise India in postponing its theatrical release in #India on 11th September. With the #bricssummit hosted by India from 12-13 September and Xi Jinping set to attend. The movie Four Rivers Six Ranges is to be in Indian theatres from 18th September now. Mr. Dorjee Dewatshang, the producer of this historical film stated this at a discussion yesterday. Book your tickets, reserve your seats and come watch the film ‘Four Rivers Six Ranges’ throughout India from 18th September onwards.
Beijing is already panicking over Four Rivers Six Ranges before Indian audiences have even seen it. Why? Because the film confronts a history the CCP has spent decades trying to bury: the PLA’s invasion of Tibet and the violence and repression that followed. Instead of confronting that history, Chinese state media attacks the filmmaker and the film. That is what censorship looks like when a regime is terrified of its own history. Directed by Shenpenn Khymsar, Four Rivers Six Ranges releases across India on 11 September. Tibet’s story cannot be censored by Beijing. #FourRiversSixRanges #Tibet #FreeTibet #StandWithTibet #TibetanResistance #TibetanHistory #TibetanFreedom #China #CCP #CCPPropaganda #ChinesePropaganda #Censorship #HumanRights #TibetWasInvaded #TibetWillBeFree #ShenpennKhymsar #NawazuddinSiddiqui #India #Tibetans #Film

A Chinese scholar, pointing at a river in Tibet years ago: "That is a river that flows into India, and we can stop it any time we want." Is a shared river a common lifeline, or a weapon held in reserve? We, in every country, have to learn to see rivers as shared, not as weapons.
#India's most important rivers rise in #Tibet — controlled by #China, which treats the data about them as an asset to switch on and off. My new piece for @IndianExpress: why a shared river becomes a lifeline or a weapon is a political choice, not a fate. indianexpress.com/article/op…

This is utterly outrageous The Chinese Embassy has no right to hold weapons in its building in London, let alone brandish them at peaceful protesters This once again calls into question the wisdom and legitimacy of the approval of its new mega-embassy. At the very least @Ed_Miliband @ShabanaMahmood must summon @AmbZhengZeguang, as a group of us said in a recent letter to @andyburnham @10DowningStreet
New: Watch footage of Chinese embassy guards in London brandishing electroshock weapons at protesters. London and Beijing are now embroiled in a diplomatic row over the incident, which is also being investigated by police. Story 👇 inews.co.uk/news/politics/ch…

Exactly right by my friend @tkdb10 The tragedy of the floods in Tibet is compounded by the secrecy and lack of transparency and accountability of the Chinese Communist Party and by the repression by the regime #FreeTibet 'The real situation of Tibetans in the flood region is unknown’ - Tibetan minister in exile channel4.com/news/the-real-s… via @krishgm

These weapons are illegal. Even our Police can’t have them. How does the Chinese embassy have them? Only obtained illegally. What else prohibited under UK law have they brought to UK? How dare they threaten people in Britain with them. I will be raising this with the Home Office.

THANK YOU MESSAGE I would like to thank you all for your greetings on my 91st birthday. As I mentioned to those gathered here in Leh, Ladakh, India on 6 July, when I look back on my life, I see that the core of my practice has been to be of benefit to others. That is the altruistic motivation with which I wake up every day. Spreading compassion and kindness continues to be my life's primary mission. Such an attitude is essential to making our world a better place for everyone. I therefore call on my brothers and sisters everywhere, both young and old, to practice warm-heartedness and compassion, with genuine concern for the well-being of others. To be able to do so is, I believe, what it means to lead a meaningful and purposeful life of service. As you may be aware, following a successful medical procedure on my left knee in New Delhi last month, I have since been recuperating here in Ladakh. As in past years, I find the climate here at this time of year well suited to my health, and I therefore plan to remain in Ladakh for the next several weeks. With my prayers and good wishes, DALAI LAMA 8 July 2026
