It was inevitable that the billionaire man child would eventually turn off our API access. It's been fun and this app has helped stop a lot of abuse. @TheBlockBot was the first shared block list app on Twitter created by me @oolon in 2013, just over 10 years ago!

This is what Elon's change to blocking will enable, people can quote your posts more easily as they're not blocked. Then you can't unquote it, and their followers have a nice convenient link to click on to abuse you

It eventually died when @blocktogether took over as a much more flexible tool, then was restarted as a @blocktogether node when that project stopped. So not quite 10 continuous years of operation.

Elon Musk has shown he has absolutely no interest in stopping abuse on this platform. In fact he actively encourages neo-Nazis to set up shop, allows them to get "verified" by paying him $8/month to get special access to abuse minorities. Which is why I say #BlockTheBlue always!

Blockbot down for maintenance! Actions table autoincrement id was an int, the table that holds all blocks etc, and the number of rows is over 4bn now... Hit the max allowed value! So re-creating the table w/bigint, will be down for 24hrs I'd guess. It's a 250Gb compressed table!
Sorry about extended outage, I had a convert running that failed multiple times on the little server. Looks to be finally working by moving from compressed->uncompressed table in small batches by script. But then needs to be compressed again :(

Currently down for maintenance, the popularity of @BlockTheBlue means we need a new SSD asap or the server will go pop. Will do this over the weekend, it will continue blocking for people already subscribed, until the copy happens!

No? OK prove me wrong then, but here is an example of a spam tweet by a bot. You can see it is "Twitter for Android", I had to use nitter.net to see that as Melon has helpfully removed any visual indicator a tweet is from an app...
