It really was a wonderful meeting! @TowsonU @MicrobialTowson students enjoyed learning about hypercapsule-forming Klebsiella. Also great to chat with @symcel about their CalScreener @BirtheKjellerup

Very excited to see the study by the Grabe and Kirichok labs (@ucsf) out in @nature reporting that compounds used to uncouple mitochondrial respiration can activate UCP1 and bind to and activate the mito ADP/ATP carrier.

Best name for a group of BAT (brown adipose tissue) researchers 👇. Vote BROWNies bc you need fatty acid substrate to have 🔥. While I love BATasses it’s misleading bc I haven’t seen evidence of BAT depots found on/near the gluteus maximus 🤣🤷🏻♀️🤓 – at Copenhagen, Denmark

Blown away by @MartinJastroch’s @cphbat2017 #cphbat2022 talk on use of comparative genetics/biology to determine when UCP1 became thermogenic 🔥. First research talk I’ve ever seen to incl #Ikea 😂 and their little horses. – at Copenhagen, Denmark

Instead of “is beige the new brown adipocyte”, @MartinJastroch suggests an evolutionary view where perhaps “beige is the ancient brown” @cphbat2017 #cphbat2022
