At Seva Teerth earlier today, signed files that are connected with the empowerment of the poor, downtrodden, our hardworking farmers, Yuva Shakti and Nari Shakti. The key decisions include: Approval for the launch of PM RAHAT scheme, as per which victims of accidents will get cashless treatment of up to Rs. 1.5 lakhs. This will ensure that immediate medical help is provided to anyone affected. Doubling of the target of the Lakhpati Didi scheme to 6 crore. This will boost women empowerment and self-reliance. The Agriculture Infrastructure Fund target has been doubled from Rs. 1 lakh crore to Rs. 2 lakh crore. This will be immensely helpful to our farmers and help boost their incomes. Approval for a Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0 with a corpus of Rs. 10,000 crore. This will encourage startups in early stages and deep-tech research. These decisions reaffirm the spirit of Nagrikdevo Bhava and add momentum to our vision of building a Viksit Bharat.

#AatmanirbharStartups #NationalSpaceDay

I am happy to note that @svembu is optimistic that it will happen in India as awareness spreads. We are delighted that many more local VC firms are driving pure DeepTech thesis to build product companies in India. Watch the space, including our Portfolio - yournest.in/our-portfolio/
For everyone out there who may be worrying why India isn’t investing in as many DeepTech startups as China, here’s a reality check: linkedin.com/feed/update/urn… We’ve been backing them for over a decade, as are several other Indian VCs. Keep the faith...

SIDBI FoF is systematically brewing the startup ecosystem in India. We local VCs once nurtured by the sovereign FoFs are able to make a much larger and a faster impact on partnering innovations.
I had the opportunity to address the SIDBI staff at at their Delhi office today. Great team, insightful questions, great interaction. Also met the CMD Mr. Manoj Mittal and Mr. S P Singh CGM of SIDBI and their senior colleagues. In 2016 the Govt had announced the creation of the Fund of Funds for startup’s. Ten thousand crores was committed to it. The fund was managed by SIDBI. The objective was to kick start the domestic Venture Capital industry (most Venture Capital in India is from overseas). It is strategically important for India to have sufficient Venture Capital from domestic sources. I was a member of the Investment Committee for this fund for the first two years and had the opportunity today to leaf through the impact report of the fund. In this years budget the government announced a further Ten thousand crores for the Fund of Funds for startup’s since the first fund had largely been disbursed - one year ahead of the envisioned timeline. Commitments have been made to 151 Indian VC Funds. These funds have mobilised downstream commitments of over Rs. 91000 crs including the money invested by SIDBI. These VC funds have thus far invested in nearly 1200 startup’s with enough dry powder yet to be invested. The Fund of Funds of startup’s has a trailing gross IRR of over 20% so far. The DPI thus far is 0.3 This is an impressive performance by any standard and a great strategic initiative by the government. Well done DPIIT and Ministry of Finance and SIDBI. Generations of VC fund managers and startup founders will remember this and be grateful. The startup ecosystem and the country will benefit greatly. @DPIITGoI @FinMinIndia @sidbiofficial @nsitharaman @nsitharamanoffc @PiyushGoyalOffc @PiyushGoyal

Reporting a fund is easier than digging deep into the innards of the venture craft and sharing valuable insights. Last year's Omega Files Ep 1 paves the way to share more this time. It's time for Episode 2 of the #OmegaFiles bit.ly/BVTheOmegaFilesEp2 Benchmarking Fund IRRs, Pattern Matching (and extracting signals from noise), Impact generation from venture capital and showcasing more peer funds from the Fund I era (2011-15) are the highlights. And you have to mine the nuggets tucked away. Thanks to our peer funds who graciously agreed to share their performances this year @skg69 and team @YourNestVC @SashaMirchi and team @KaeCapital Kumar Shah and Micromax Corp VC A big thanks to @AdithyaS017 and his intern army of 2. Allowing NRIs to open demat accounts online is the low-hanging fruit to attract money to India. The process today is physical and cumbersome. With Indian markets doing well, there's a great interest to invest here, but the tough onboard process leads to massive dropoffs. 1/4
