Hello Bangalore friends, please join me for the first inaugural general meeting of the Ministry of Anti-Slop Affairs in Bangalore as part of the @basecampblr festivities. On the 11th of January at 4pm.
I will pick one audience-submitted real-world business-y content idea and take it from concept to story, real-time, complete with outlining and line-editing, with all kinds of accompanying slop-free shenanigans. In 90 minutes or so.
Promises to be fun if you are of a story-telling, narrative, typing-things bent of mind. And want to do it better for yourself and your company.
Come join me! I need at least one person in the audience for this to work.
Many thanks: @MotwaniSuhas @TheProductfolks @AntlerIndia

As someone who used to watch credit cards being put into one of those physical carbon copy machines and then sign off on a paper slip, contactless payments still feel like magic.

Update: in ~10 days, the site is unrecognisable.
Trash has been fully cleared, the wall repainted, and a road curb laid down.
Footpath is also being built now.
Incredible work GBA (@GBA_office), Virendra Suryawanshi (@Virendra0698), Arun Pai (@arunpaiblrwalks) and team.

I think what is actually needed is for Indian people to actually give a damn about their cities and fellow citizens.
Anybody using the "I pay taxes, I shouldn't have to do anything" excuse should go live in another country. India isn't developed, it's developing, so it needs patriots, not parasites. If this triggers you, it means you're part of the problem.
If you're not happy with the footpath (or a pothole, or anything else which is broken), fix it, or call someone to fix it, and don't give up until it's fixed. Be relentless. Be vocal. Be creative. Make it your mission to get that one thing fixed. Look at what Virendra (@Virendra0698) did by just calling the right people and being respectful (but also persistent). He and Arun Pai (@arunpaiblrwalks) along with the help of GBA and some wonderful volunteers turned an unofficial garbage dump into a pristine, beautiful footpath through sheer force of will.

We all know Uncle. For years, Uncle has performed samajik seva for the Society, and also society itself. He protects us from those scurrilously renting flats to bachelors, couples holding hands, and returning home after 11:15pm. Now, Uncle has selflessly agreed to tell his story to inspire the youth.
Revenge of the Uncle is a 20-minute mockumentary we are making about the nation’s greatest unsung social activist and his efforts to win himself a Padma Shri (of course, only if Hon’ble Home Ministry thinks he deserves it). My brother @SahajSankaran and I are looking for a cast & crew to help make it happen! We’re planning a week-long shoot before the end of the year.
You can read the cast & crew call + the draft screenplay here: honestyisbest.com/p/revenge-…
If you're interested, you can book an appointment to speak with us here: calendly.com/sahajsankaran/n…
Want a taste of what we've done before? Watch The Project, a comedy pilot we wrote & directed about a group of villagers who start a fake consulting firm to save their village from demolition (note that The Project is satire!):
Take a look at these nutritional labels. All three are smoothies. no added sugar. Real fruit. Real dairy and nothing added. Made on order. Delivered fresh. I am trying to figure out a good price for this for a friend. Help me out. What would you pay. Purple is berries. Orange has mango. Berries has some banana to even out the flavour. All have real vanilla extract to improve flavour profile.
What I find utterly fascinating about this is that Accenture is basically saying we do not expect AI usage to generate much more than 29 dollars of per capita revenue jump per employee.
In other words our business might have limited “AI elasticity”.
Quite fascinating.
Accenture restricts Claude usage to $29 per month per employee.
Some employees were using $500 to $1000 Claude tokens per month.
So employees will have to work old fashioned way now.

It has become clear that the 'hard' skills are now easy, and the so-called soft skills are actually hard to learn & do

Eight years ago, six Catholic nuns publicly campaigned against a bishop, accusing him of raping one of them. Today, three of the sisters, still clad in Carmelite brown, have started a clothing business to put food on their table after they say the church hierarchy abandoned them. I went to their dwelling to speak to them. Here is that conversation.

The most significant tech moment since the Internet. And one of the first things you are marketed is “Now you can use artificial intelligence to make… slides.”
Slides.
Quite fascinating really.

Free advice for picking GTM tools. Avoid vendors who:
- write product specs in Times New Roman
- keep the roadmap in PowerPoint
- publish changelogs as quarterly PDFs
- have a 1Y stock chart you could ski down
- require a discovery call before a demo
Just the unseriousness of it all is so exhausting.

Every kid in the garden copied someone's run up and action.
Who was the bowler you tried to copy as a youngster?
I was going to complain about VC and investor types who never ever reply to emails and then I realized I have many years of experience working with the Bombay TV and Film industry.
They want to create a pedestrian crossing by removing concrete steps? What? Why are there concrete steps in the middle of the road? I don’t understand.

Everyday I am reminded how much damage was done to generations of Indian youth because the smart people were told to be quiet and humble and let their work speak, while the idiots were given free rein to have a personality.

Saw the Taj Mahal in person.
It is by far the second most impressive man made structure I’ve ever seen in person.
(No.1 is Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal out of possession)
