@sohamsankaran and I and I are pleased to release The Project, a new comedy pilot we wrote and directed about a group of villagers who start a fake consulting firm in a last-ditch attempt to save their village from demolition. Take a look on YouTube here! youtube.com/watch?v=Xn311NPp…

On August 31, the first two participants were injected with @PopVaxIndia’s first fridge-stable RNA vaccine candidate in a Phase I clinical trial in Australia. We built this vaccine at our RNA Foundry in Hyderabad – from computational design to GMP manufacturing. Here's how:

This is a great opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation storytelling — email us today!
I am hiring a talented and tasteful full-stack filmmaker for a three-month fellowship @PopVaxIndia, full-time in Hyderabad, to help the world imagine what the future of medicine will look like in our new world of abundant intelligence. We think medicine will be increasingly personalized and preventative, and the mechanics of healthcare will have to be entirely transformed to make that possible. A lot of this will look more like making science fiction than producing launch videos, though there will be some of that as well. I'm looking for someone who is as comfortable shooting and editing a short film entirely in real life as they are generating it entirely with AI, with the ability to seamlessly embed the one medium in the other. If this is you, email me at film [at] popvax dot com with a few samples, ideally both writing and video. This is a paid position, and it has the potential (but not the requirement) to convert to a long-term role if there is mutual alignment. My brother @SahajSankaran and I write and direct a little on the side -- see youtube.com/@honestyontape -- so, for better or worse, I will be quite opinionated about what we put out. If this goes well, it will be a deep and fulfilling collaboration on all aspects of the creative process, from the writing to the final cut. I should have done this a long time ago (many such cases). This will be a lot of fun! @pbshgthm @ashleevance @oshosidhant @anupamsidhant @pavlikam @ABiggerSpalash @neervj @neilshroff @sidin

3 in 4 Indian prison inmates have not been convicted of the crime that put them there. The undertrial crisis is a travesty of justice - and it's been growing for decades. In my latest blog, I dive into the long history of the crisis, and the reasons it's become so severe. sahajsankaran.com/p/why-have…

(THIS IS SATIRE) Progress has costs. Sometimes, those costs are jobs. Sometimes, they are people. Sometimes, it can be whole villages also. What to do? As the village of Chanala learns, the bulldozer of development cannot be stopped, certainly not by lying in front of it. (1/3)

India grows almost half the world's mangos, but barely 1 in 100 will be shipped out. Mangoes are our national fruit, a crown jewel of our agriculture - yet even China threatens to beat us in exporting them... (1/2)

There are so many high-value agro-exports we don't compete in, like cacao and avocadoes and we're stuck importing avocadoes. Coffee exports, at $2B a year stand out as a rare success story. In my new blog post, I explore our missed opportunities: (2/2) sahajsankaran.com/p/why-does…

My brother @sahajsankaran & I are pleased to present our new comedy series ‘Ungli’, in which two broke brothers discover India's Electoral Bonds scheme, and hatch a brilliant plan – starting a fake political party to launder money from abroad. (video below)

Much to everyone's horror, I've started blogging again. My first piece explores India's Aadhaar ID system, and the question of what happens when a system meant to be inclusive starts excluding. Catch it here and subscribe: sahajsankaran.com/p/identity…

Testing people once a week for COVID-19 using at-home rapid tests is our best hope of flattening the curve in India as we wait for vaccine manufacturing to ramp up. @ashishkjha Watch the video below to learn why, and read more at testeveryone.in. youtube.com/watch?v=Bseu1jPY…

In an Indian History Special about the Rafale deal, I take an in-depth look at the complex, tangled history and politics of India's jet fighter purchases, from the MiG-21 to the Rafale. @svaradarajan @DilliDurAst @ShereenBhan @ajaishukla @NarangVipin honestyisbest.com/today-in-i…

"The Rafale deal only heightens the fact that the Indian Air Force is being pulled in a number of different directions, and every single fighter it buys, builds, or develops has different maintenance needs, performance profiles, testing requirements, and training regimes..."

"Stephen A. Cohen and Sunil Dasgupta persuasively argued a few years ago that India’s military modernization has become a piecemeal, incoherent affair that lacks a unity of vision.... What is clear, from the past and present of the air force, is this: we need a new way forward."
