It’s been a crazy couple of months.
I’ve spent a huge part of this year building CoreHue for photographers around the world, especially here in Africa 😁
Seeing photographers actually use it and love it has been one of the best parts of this whole journey.
If you know a photographer, I’d love for you to share this with them ❤️

We at VictoriaMetrics are hiring people who can do their work at a high quality. We don't care whether they use AI tools or not.
If you can do the work without AI - we are glad to see you in our team.
If you produce slop with AI - you are fired.

i'm not catholic, but i always found "in what I have done and in what I have failed to do" in the confiteor quite striking.
our faith and moral convictions have become much passive, much too focused on avoiding sin. we've lost all stomach for the idea that our inaction costs us

If coercion and punishment worked as a way to raise disciplined children, Nigeria would not be one of the most corrupt countries in the world, where citizens routinely ignore basic rules like traffic lights and zebra crossings.
We hold Western approaches to discipline in contempt, yet our people risk life and limb, selling everything they own to get to those same Western societies.
We have failed to build a society rooted in love, respect and human dignity. Our public institutions reek of cruelty. Government officials treat citizens with contempt and disregard. Yet we are always the first to lecture about values, tradition and discipline.
If The ends justify the means.
then this is the Nigeria those means have produced.

I grew up playing The Sims 3 and always wondered what it would be like if the Sims lived in a world inspired by ours.🤷🏽♀️
Then I saw @eureka_seamless riding a danfo through Lagos, and it sparked an idea: Lagos Life Sims.
Take a look around. Who knows, you might make a new friend in the Sims world.

Nobody can heal you, not even a psychologist.
They can guide you, show you the way, and give you the tools, but ultimately, the healing has to come from within you.

Pope Leo XIV at Lourdes preaches on sin, repentance, penance and conversion:
“Indeed I promise you that eternal life is a firm and certain promise that the Lord makes to us. He has already won for us the victory in His death and resurrection, through the grace of Baptism He brings this eternal life to fulfilment in each day. It is within our reach but we must firmly welcome it, take hold of it and not stand in its way.
For the obstacles to grace and eternal life, the only obstacle to love is sin, by where we turn in upon ourselves, refusing God and shutting ourselves up in our own darkness. Our personal responsibility therefore comes in to play, and great responsibility it is: God has made us free, since freedom is necessary for love no one can be forced to love, we must therefore use our freedom to say yes to Christ, relying on His grace as Mary did. This is the yes that we renew until our final breath, now and at the hour of our death, as we always say in the Hail Mary.
We hear the same urgent call to conversion in the words which Mary spoke right here: “Penance, penance, penance!” She repeats the three times and she asks Bernadette to perform certain acts of penance. Why? Are we slow to understand, do we too easily think of ourselves without sin? Do we not practice penance enough? The Virgin asks us to do penance not only for ourselves because we do need it, but also for sinners and for a world that is going astray. How can our hearts not be moved by the conflicts that are spreading and destroying so many innocent lives. Yet the evil of our times comes from the human heart. God is not responsible for this. It therefore the human heart that must change.”

Again, this is not a one-sided gender thing. Anyone can fall into this trap.
When people treat you well, you need to develop the muscle (humility) not to feel or think that you are better than them. Such as easy trap man, to think that they are respecting you or treating you..

If someone you’re in love with treats you shabbily, you’re supposed to hate them with passionate intensity, not sit there like a fool, clinging to some ridiculous hope that things will magically change.

Felix, Our Co-founder and CTO, has been named one of @TIME’s 50 Executives of the Year for Tech and Data.
Alongside leaders of some of the biggest technology companies, research institutions, and global organisations.
Today, he leads our engineering team of 1,000+ people across multiple continents, building technology that helps millions of people and businesses access financial services every day.
And because we're allowed to brag a little today, Moniepoint is the only African-founded company represented on the list. But this is absolutely Felix's moment. Seeing African technology represented in a room like this? We'll take that too 💙

I don't understand why people are acquiescing so easily. How can you not see that it's the em-dash today, but the scope will continue to expand, until we're all forced into some rigid writing style that the AI overloads approve of? What's wrong with everyone?!!

We’re excited to announce Somtochi Onyekwere (@somtochiama), Staff Software Engineer at Fly.io, as a speaker at SysConf 2026!
Her talk is titled “Minimising Broadcast Traffic using the Plumtree Protocol.”
Corrosion is the distributed system used at Fly.io to propagate state needed for network routing. At one point, broadcast traffic across a cluster of over 1,300 nodes averaged ~10 GiB/s. By switching from a gossip-based protocol to Plumtree, combined with compression, Somtochi and the team brought that traffic down to under 1 GiB/s—nearly a 10x reduction. This talk explores how gossip and Plumtree work, the engineering trade-offs involved, and the practical lessons learned from operating broadcast protocols at scale.
