A few people were asking about the new keyart for the game so here it is. It's an actual oil painting by Matthew Stawicki @StawickiArt . Yep, an actual physical piece of art by a real artist. I had to compress it for this post, the original file is massive. We wanted someone that would represent the old school Dungeons and Dragons art that we remember. Oliver was reading some Dragonlance books at the time and noticed Matt was the one who had done a lot of the covers (I loved his Dragons of a Fallen Sun cover) so we contacted him and he agreed to do the commission. I think it represents the game really well.

Oliver came to visit Japan over the last couple of weeks. It was great to finally meet in person and discuss everything we need to get done over the next couple of months for Lair of the Leviathan. At the same time it was also a little (perhaps more than a little) strange. I had started this gamedev journey alone, never expecting anything to happen more than perhaps it being a cool little hobby and to create a game that I myself wanted to play. It really has me reflecting on how far I had come. I somehow learnt pixel art, somehow had come up with a game people seemed interested in and also gained 7500 followers on X in a year and half. It has been very surreal and a little overwhelming. I even have become friends with and teamed up with someone I had admired for many years. I still have no idea how this happened and most days I still suffer from imposter syndrome. I had previously doubted myself and whether this was even worth continuing so many times over the years. Oliver coming to visit kind of solidified everything, that it isn't just a dream, it really is happening. It feels really weird but I'm also happy to be on this journey wherever it ends up leading. If you are reading this and feel like giving up on your own dreams, please don't. You never know what might happen.
