Since lots of people are announcing departures, let me announce that I'm staying, partly because I curate my lists carefully, and mostly because there isn't the recreational geometry community anywhere else. But I'm rfbooth at the trendy new place and r.f.booth at Zuck's twitter.

Went to the bus stop. First two due buses don't show. Third one is so full it can't let anybody on.
Take a cab to the station.
The train I want arrives, but three others in this time slot are cancelled without replacement.
And this is why we drive.
Turns out the league cancelled for nothing, but that's more than ok. The people of Preston, and the rest of the country, made me feel proud of this place again.

We need to have some clarity about the causes of the rioting over the past few days.

Many people have some irrational beliefs. Mine is "most people are fundamentally decent".
I'm sure these numbers would be better without cynical forces whipping up hate, but even so, the fact that 20% of us are pretty awful is dispiriting.

This idea that calling ppl far right is “meaningless” is regularly shared by the far right & those trying to normalise far right activities & ideology. The genuinely concerned parents were at the vigil, not lobbing bricks at a mosque.
