During yesterday's Notion Consulting Bootcamp Deep Dive, I realized just how much I was complicating email campaigns. So, we went back to first principles on one question: How do we build on the right relationships to turn passive audiences into strategic clients? Last month I checked my Notion Marketplace stats: 312 template downloads. I immediately thought: I know absolutely nothing about my users. So I built a dead-simple automation (took me less than an hour): 🔗 Webhook from @NotionHQ Marketplace → Relay 💾 @relay saves to my Notion database 🐝 @beehiiv sends a 7-email sequence Once you get the hang of sending to specific segments (VC templates vs. consultant templates), momentum builds itself. Most consultants rely solely on referrals and relationships. Both of these are critical, but they're capped. Building up your email list via offering free templates massively expands your network, and gives you the ability to test different market segments. When someone downloads your template, they're literally raising their hand saying "I have this problem and I think this solves it." Start simple: Welcome email (same day) Check-in email (day 2) Quick win tip (day 5) Gradually introduce services/benefits (day 7+) That's it. A handful of emails. Automated. From there, you can get fancy with segments, tags, and longer sequences. Templates aren't products. They're conversation starters. P.S. - Want to see the exact automation setup? I walked through it live this week, including the webhook setup that everyone thinks is complicated (it's not). Dropping the link below. youtu.be/nUTcW4caVoE

Using your agents should feel like talking to Claude. No clicking through flows, just chatting and getting work done. How have we been doing this as of late? Connect Claude to a platform like @relay through an MCP, and workflows turn into conversations. Let me explain what I mean... We’ve been experimenting with tying Relay into Claude projects via MCP. That lets you turn agents built in Relay—like a YouTube scraper—into MCP “servers” that Claude can call on demand inside a chat. The front end is a chat interface like Claude. The back end is a no-code automation tool like Relay. Instead of jumping between no-code flows, you just go to Claude, open up the tool integrations, select that agent, then start chatting: “Pull the last 10 YouTube posts for this company. Analyze engagement. Suggest lead magnet ideas.” Behind the scenes, Claude routes the request, calls the Relay tools, and returns the results right into the conversation. I think this is a very simple way to start getting value out of your agents. DM me or comment below "MCP" if you want us to help out! PS thanks, Max Krueger on our team, for creating this for our client!

Here's an automation we built on @relay to run a competitive analysis. When I was at LinkedIn doing similar work, this would take ~2-3 hours. Now it runs in ~10 mins. Here's how it works. 1.) Runs automatically every week (or on demand). 2.) Checks a table for the list of companies to research. We specified which companies to put in here. 3.) Scans @X for updates. Looking for things like posts from their exec team. 4.) Runs a @perplexity_ai search for additional insights. This is the most valuable since their platform is awesome. 5.) Extracts and summarizes everything with Google's Gemini. All the models are decent. Google's large context window is great. 6.) Sends a final update back into @SlackHQ for us to review. 7.) Not here but we're going to then push this to our CRM for later review. There's more nuance here (i.e., how to prompt, how to feed the right content in, how to set up the integrations, etc). Jacob and the Relay team make it much easier. Comment below if you want this agent, and we can share it with you.

How we used @relay to turn a 3 hour manual task to a 10 minute automated task. Every year, we need to input all of our properties' loans (lender and ending balances) in individual Excel files for a government agency. Our accountants would do this manually by opening each of our 150 property audits to collect this information and manually enter in the file. With Relay, this simple three step process extracted all data points in 5 minutes. We then used a macro to input the data into individual Excel files.

Make product management fun again with AI agents via @talraviv If you’re like me, you’ve heard the promises and proclamations about how agents will reshape productivity, but your workday hasn’t changed at all yet. It’s not you—operationalizing AI agents for product work is hard. Where to start? What tools? What about security? Costs? Risks? And why is there such a #$@% learning curve? After interviewing founders of AI agent platforms, running numerous usability sessions with PMs building their first agents, and gathering insights from a hands-on workshop for over 5,000 product managers, @talraviv has compiled their collective wisdom. In this post, Tal shares their insights on what works—and what doesn’t—in the real world. You're first going to learn how to build an AI agent, hands-on. Then, Tal shares a unified framework for any PM to plan their second (and third) agent. We’ll cover best practices, pitfalls, powers, and constraints. While AI agents aren’t magic genies, they can take a lot of repetitive, energy-draining PM tasks off our plate, let us focus on the most important work, and even make our jobs a bit more fun. Inside: 1. WTF is an agent 2. A simple walkthrough of how to launch your first AI agent today 3. A checklist for planning an agent 4. A dozen ideas of work you can offload to an agent 5. How to pick an agent platform 6. Tips for optimizing costs, security, and stability Includes guides for building an agent with @gumloop, @getlindy, @Zapier, @relay, @Cassidy_AI, and @RelevanceAI_ Check it out → lennysnewsletter.com/p/make-…

Here’s a real video of AI catching a receipt in my email, reading it, pulling out the cost, vendor, and extrapolating an expense category, putting it into my expense database. AI doesn’t need to be sexy. It just needs to save you time. Use that time to make more money 🤑
Hey @googlecalendar I have an idea for you: Do you log expenses for business? You should be able to click on a meeting via the app, take a picture of your receipt, & it will automatically log the receipt with applicable info. Automatically compiles for EOY & tax season.

The complete list of automations I set up with @relay. Fun fact about the first automation in the flow: "Move cards to the next list at the start of every week, for 28 lists" Before the client came to me, the other automation expert they consulted told her that this would require one automation for each list. So 28 flows. I added just 1 step to the flow to avoid duplicating the flow 27 times. Would have definitely driven everyone crazy. And perhaps why the other expert didn't want to take this up. PS: It could have been done with Trello Automation too, but the automation, for some reason, doesn't work for more than 10 lists in a board.
automated everything with Relay . app one of the more fun automation projects I have undertaken.. this client came to me after a very popular automation expert told them they don't want to do it (or couldn't do it, maybe?).. the client was super cool too!

How we're using AI and automation through @relay to save hundreds of hours: We own and manage ~2,500 Section 8 units and would receive 5k letters each year detailing new rent amounts for the tenant and housing authority. When we receive the letter in the mail, we scan as pdf, manually enter new rent charges in Yardi one by one, and rename each pdf file. This takes ~5 min per letter. Now, we upload all letters once a month into a Google Drive folder, which triggers the following automation in Relay: 1. A ChatGPT prompt extracts data from each pdf (address, rent amounts, effective date of new rent, etc). 2. Searches our rent roll in Google Sheets to find the address that matches the address from #1 3. Enters the new rent data in that row 4. Runs a script through Google Sheets to rename the pdf file. This automation can complete 100 letters in a few minutes and allows us to generate a csv that we can upload into Yardi to update 100 units at once. Pre automation: 100 letters take 500 minutes to process With automation: 100 letters take 10 minutes at most (plus review time).

@relay seems to have a pretty good integration with @NotionHQ. The great thing is that a trigger in database A can create an action in a related database B, and then in a related database C. It sounds quite easy to do (at least in this video 🙂). This means what happens in A can impact X. 𝗔 → 𝗕 → 𝗖 → 𝗫 Here's the video that demonstrates it: youtu.be/XDqjyo0qWWk?si=D8qJ…

Just ran my first automation workflow with @relay ! I wanted to send newsletters from Outlook to Notion, and it was so easy I almost cried—after struggling and giving up with other tools like Make. Huge thanks to @relay for empowering non-tech folks like me!

I don't know if there is an easy way to automate this, but I found a smarter way to update records in Airtable using Google Sheets and Relay.app. I wanted to add my branded short links for the affiliate programs I am a part of.. worked like a charm..
