Learning #JavaScript feels like: Lesson 1: 1 + 1 = 2 Lesson 2: 2 * 2 = 4 Lesson 3: \pi=\sum_{n=0}^\infty(-1)^n\frac{4}{2n+1}

Scheduling time for self care just like you schedule a meeting or a work task. If I work long hours I will intentionally plan how I will get things back into balance. Sometimes that is just making time for exercise.

Work on developing a stronger sense of self-worth and confidence. Then you’ll be more comfortable to say what do know and what you don’t know. Tech is such a breadth of information to learn that there’s no way to be an expert in every area.

No but I find that most items are more expensive than other stores so I don’t typically shop there.

I was about 8 year old when my mom brought an old computer home from work with MS-DOS.

Overcoming the imposter syndrome. That constant feeling of “I don’t belong in this space” can make solving problems even harder.

(I worked with several product teams that weren’t technical so I would be grateful is what I’m trying to say)

After working with several product teams who weren’t technical (but believed they were) I bet your team is so grateful to have you! I have considered technical writing in the future if i ever get to that point.

Congrats! That sounds like a really great position for you. There are days I feel so stressed in my position I daydream about taking a jr role somewhere else but there are so many good things about my role I couldn’t give those up.

No just curious to hear people share their stories about when they did. Did you know 70% of developers end up leaving the industry due to poor work environments?

Some days I think about it but it’s fleeting. Being promoted to a Sr role so quickly at my first dev job is a big factor. I wasn’t prepared for all the different stressors I would face so early on in my professional development but I can’t imagine leaving the good parts behind.

It does seem like a higher salary is just exchanging one set of problems for another. That’s really great wisdom. Thank you for sharing and I followed to stay in touch.

I know how hard some days can feel. I know extreme stress makes me want to escape too and it’s even worse when your brain decides the best solution is taking your own life. I’m so glad you’ve made it through that dark time. 💜💜💜

Assigning variables and simple functions. Even data types were confusing to me as a beginner because I had no idea how they were useful yet.

I love my team and I love the work I do but I really dislike that many of the people that manage my workload aren’t technical or collaborative & regularly imply I’m incompetent at my job.

I also just recently learned about “golden handcuffs” which could look like giving way too much money to an entry level role so you can work them like a horse knowing they won’t leave bc they’re afraid they won’t be able to replace their income/exercise their equity. That’s a đŸš©
