I am weirdly a big fan of @jayjaybrown97 ...they keep me thinking and reflecting on Jamaica! This @JamaicaGleaner editorial is masterful, timely and absolutely relevant! We should teach with this in classes. Well done @JamaicaGleaner

I actually love this for these children. They and their teachers are showing dedication and resilience. They will get their school buildings back. In the meantime make memories with cool outdoor learning. #bigupjamaica
Not since the 1960s, primary schools did this under Colonialism and the JLP. JLP still here twiddling thumbs and started fixing schools in the last two weeks. So our kids are learning under trees and must compete globally with kids who have lap tops, internet, AI and multi media.

They named an asteroid after him! That's a remarkable posthumous acknowledgement of his achievements. Well done UWI for reclaiming one of our brightest voices from a very dark time.

This is effective educational innovation at at scale! Big up Jamaica.
Update: Jamaica, Irrespective of our differences in thought, this is something that we must build upon. Numbers don't lie and I am encouraged by the early successes of the Rural School Bus System. The 2025 edition of the Economic and Social Survey Jamaica done by the PIOJ found that there has been an 80% improvement in attendance and a 90% improvement in punctuality since the launch of the Rural School Bus System. This does not yet speak to the financial burden lifted from Rural Families. Approximately 13,000 students have been recorded from over 514 schools across Jamaica. We are able to track the buses, provide data on usage and ridership and show you the benefit to taxpayers. This was never a buy-vote policy. It was an investment in our future and the implementation of a long overdue system for Rural Jamaica. This is just some of the benefits. There have also been significant reductions in accidents and deaths involving students commuting to and from school. If we believe that "every child can learn" then we must continue to champion that every child gets to school in a safe and secure manner. #ProudAchievement #RuralSchoolBus Article: jamaicaobserver.com/2026/08/…

Nah! This still uses gas. Jamaican people should avoid gas cars. EVs and Hybrids are far more sensible for the environment in which we live. When light gone an EV is a backup generator. This is a door stop or just a watch dog.

Very well put sir. But this independent Jamaica flies in the face of the Donroe doctrine. In a world of great powers and regional hegemons how will Jamaica safeguard it's sovereignty. "It may be dangerous to be America's enemy, but to be America's friend is fatal" (Henry Kissenger, 1968).

Today, we celebrate 186 years since the end of slavery, a brutal system that our resilient ancestors overcame through immense determination. We honor their hard-fought battle and sacrifices for our freedom. Together we remember the unconquerable spirit of our ancestors — the brave souls who broke the chains, who dared to dream of freedom, and who ignited a flame that would forever change the course of history. Today we raise our voices in jubilation.  We honour the legacy of our National Hero Sam Sharpe, whose sacrifice ignited a revolution. We remember his famous words in a letter to the British Parliament he said, “I would rather die upon yonder gallows than live in slavery”.  Happy Emancipation Day Jamaica! 🇯🇲 #EmancipationDay #Freedom

Is this a brain drain or a brain trust? The Jamaican diaspora has great skills, influence and mobility.
Brain 🧠 Drain. Jamaica 🇯🇲 ranks 2nd Globally. Narrowly loosing not, to Somalia, Palestine, Ukraine, Iraq, Afghanistan ….not to a war torn, Civil war having regions. No we beat all those. Samoa, but their population is only 200k so the math makes sense. Flabbergasted.

These notices from the JCF are hilarious. They make my Wednesdays! 😀
👀 The only running we want to see this summer is our Jamaican athletes at the Paris Olympics. If you are wanted, stop running and ketch you breath at the nearest blue and white building.

Not a good idea. Jamdown needs these subjects. In an age of technology these can be done with cad, modelling and digital technology. Poor decision...
Csec discontinuing Mechanical Engineering, Agri (double major), Electrical and Electronic technology and green engineering because of low enrollment
