Check out this new method from #WelchGrantee Julian West's @pushingarrows lab at @ChemistryRice on BCP boronate ester synthesis! This iron LMCT photocatalysis method enables the direct conversion of carboxylic acids to boronate esters using B2Pin2 in DMSO without pre-activation. This could be a remarkably useful reaction in the medicinal chemist's toolkit! Congratulations to 1st author Yongchen Wang and the rest of the co-authors on this awesome paper. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

Great to see this out! I still remember our first meeting in January 2024. I enjoyed working on this with Po-Kai and Shijin they were very supportive. Thanks to you, @KatayevL, @AJF_Chem for working on such a difficult problem together. It was a great team effort!
Really excited to share this collaboration with the @KatayevL group showing how Fe/S catalysis can make privileged bioisosteres quickly, easily, and cheaply! Check it out in @angew_chem
