Both conventional tobacco products and e-cigarettes pose risks to health.
E-cigarette use can negatively impact the health of your brain, lungs and heart and it is linked to an increased risk of heart disease and lung disorders. 🤒🧠🫁🫀

🇸🇪Sweden is far ahead of 🇰🇷South Korea on the journey to being smokefree.
Three policies helped along the way:
👉Legal access to safer nicotine products through both online and retail markets.
👉Alternative products can be marketed to inform adult smokers about reduced-harm options.
👉Risk-proportionate taxation: In 2024, excise taxes on snus were reduced while cigarette taxes increased, reinforcing the incentive to switch from traditional smoking products.

There is no need to "white knuckle" your way thru quitting. Vape is here to help you quit the 7000 chemicals in every puff of a cigarette. No carcinogens, which causes cancer. Nicotine is not near as addictive as they want you to believe!. It is DEPENDENCY driven.

One word. Many chemicals.
Tar isn’t a single chemical, it’s a complex mixture found in cigarette smoke.

It’s easy to think that more nicotine means more harm but it’s not that simple.
Nicotine is the substance that causes addiction but it does not by itself determine how many harmful chemicals are in cigarette smoke.

You think it's bad now? Wait till the govt bans flavours, packaging, and puts them behind screens, exactly like cigarettes.

Activist groups and foundations also need to be transparent, follow the rules and not act on behalf of hidden special interests. We have an opportunity to redefine the governance process.
Industry takes the path of least resistance. NGOs have lost influence, so business as usual.
@zaruk has been around too long. The NGOs will come back harder than ever.
Now is the time to restructure the post-NGO policy arena to prevent future abuse.

How to fix the activist muck.
- Clarify and clean up the role of foundations.
- Differentiate NGOs from activist lobby groups (APEs).
- Set stricter conditions for evidence in policy processes
- Consider activist campaigns as marketing and PR activities rather than policy actions
Environmental activist campaigns have grown silent.
The urgent crisis they now campaign on is their own survival.
@zaruk argues that their present decline in influence offers an opportunity to reset the way the regulatory game is played.

Laura Hunter’s comments raise an important issue but then draw the wrong conclusion.
The problem isn’t that vapes contain lithium-ion batteries. The problem is poor-quality, unregulated products.
Lithium-ion batteries are found in phones, laptops, e-bikes, power tools and countless other everyday devices. When they are poorly manufactured, damaged or improperly handled, they can fail. This is not a problem unique to vaping.
The irony is that Australia’s own policies have helped create a market dominated by illicit products that don’t comply with safety standards.
If, as claimed, around 95% of vapes are illegal imports, that is not evidence that regulated vaping has failed. It is evidence that prohibition has handed the market to suppliers with no incentive to meet quality or safety standards.
Using an incident involving what appears to be an illicit vape to argue for even more crackdowns ignores the obvious question:
Why are consumers forced into an overwhelmingly illicit market in the first place?
If public health genuinely cares about safety, the solution is to replace dangerous, unregulated products with regulated ones that meet manufacturing and battery safety standards not continue the policies that created the illicit market in the first place.
