Today we recognize the children and adults across Ontario with dyslexia, and the families, educators and advocates standing with them. There is hope, because so much is known. Decades of research tell us what dyslexia is, how to identify it early, and what instruction is effective. Structured literacy puts that research into practice. With it, people with dyslexia learn to read and write well, and reading skills can be improved at any age. The International Dyslexia Association is the oldest organization dedicated to the study and treatment of dyslexia, with roots going back to the 1920s. IDA Ontario has been part of that work for over 20 years. So today, learn something new about dyslexia. Share it. On this October 7, trade unions are putting young workers at the centre of their demands for decent jobs, living wages, secure employment and respect for workers’ rights. “Young workers are telling us clearly that the status quo is not delivering the future they deserve.
