I just sent & received a message using a toy laser. Yep an actual laser pointer. Same core idea behind how NASA sends high bandwidth data (even 4K video) from space in Artemis 2 mission. Its not the most efficient system, but a solid proof of concept (1/n)

India has its own Fast Steering Mirror (FSM)! 🇮🇳 Bengaluru-Based QOSMIC’s FSM has cleared thermal vacuum and vibration qualification, both on the first attempt. The FSM is the fine-pointing core of every optical link. It holds a laser locked on target while everything around it moves, making hundreds of tiny corrections every second. It can perform satellite to ground, satellite to satellite, ground to ground fine-pointing. Very few suppliers have such class of hardware in the world. QOSMIC has developed and space-qualified it in less than a year. Next step, launch to orbit! Congrats @QOSMIC__Space! This is really increadible and inspiring! Looking forward to your future endeavors.

Yesss, we’ve cleared Thermo Vac and Vibration Testing! Soon, our Fast Steering Mirrors are flying to space From the top of WTC, BLR, we could transmit data to any point on the horizon, with our own tech and the pointing precision shown below. Any point on this grid, from orbit
Nine months ago, this did not exist. Today, India can build its own Fast Steering Mirror. QOSMIC’s FSM has cleared thermal vacuum and vibration qualification, both on the first attempt. The FSM is the fine-pointing core of every optical link: satellite to ground, satellite to satellite, ground to ground. It holds a laser locked on target while everything around it moves, making hundreds of tiny corrections every second. To put that precision in perspective: lay a grid over Rashtrapati Bhavan. From 500 km above your head, our FSM is designed to point a laser link at any single point on it. Only two or three suppliers worldwide build this class of hardware. So we built ours. From nothing to space-qualified in under a year. Built to survive launch. Now it waits for one 👀 #ICSO2026 #ICSO #NewSpaceIndia #OpticalCommunications #LaserCommunication @Jain_Shrey_ @RohitKR79 @aalokelab @shashank_huh @js_2606 @Accel @AccelAtoms @AccelIndia @spc_india @spc @artparkindia

Today we give India the capability to control Light at its finest level It was always of paramount importance to us to enable the control stack for Laser based communication. Pointing and Tracking over line of sights are often the hardest challenges and FSMs sits at the heart of it. This is why we knew we had to put our brains and brawns behind it. Incredible hard-work by the QOSMIC teams in making this piece of the puzzle come alive. Exciting updates soon 🚀👀

People. The locations you’re having tower 4G/5G problems, you’ll continue having those problems with Starlink. That’s a physics problem due to physical barriers like walls. Starlink does not fix your building not taking into account RF loss.

We could only trace the mumbai attacker terrorist conversation because we had control over the signals. What if a white man sells his ultra encrypted SAT-COM network which is not in Indian control? Just imagine. What if government wants to support him, but he doesn't want to wait for security clearances and just push for storming his satcom signals over India? What if terrorists use that to communicate back to their masters. Who ever is batting for @elonmusk and pre-mature , unregulated release of starlink should remember that, if the blood flows, it's on their hand. Doesn't matter what party they're from, doesn't matter if they are the leader of what ever place. They're comprimising an entire nation for a white man.

Is Ambani the real boss of India? Yes he is Starlink is security issue I wonder why you don't care about china or Russian people access to Starlink they are not human? #BanStarlinkIndia
Starlink is licensed in over 165 countries and has spent five years complying with every single law and requirement of the government of India, so why still no license? Is Ambani the real boss of India?

US also does not allow chinese sat com or Russian satcom. This is a crime against hard working US citizens. Such hypocrisy @elonmusk ☺️

We will build it, right here from India
Starlink only scaled because of laser links. Most of the world measures Starship in tonnage but for elon its about downlinking capacity per launch. We absolutely need a sovereign space communication stack. NOW.

You are looking at the wrong end of the pipe, watch out for @AgnikulCosmos @SkyrootA @Digantarahq @VyomIC_Space @GalaxEye @QOSMIC__Space @inspecity @astrobase_space and many more @INSPACeIND @isro Thanks in a small way to the US too, for closing the immigration pathway and pushing back so much talent to India! Unfortunately the way SpaceX capabilities have been weaponized makes it a suspect company. India and the business landscape here has many problems with the so-called oligarchs and conglomerates, but SpaceX cribbing about being blocked from India because of them is the least of our concerns! We remember the nefarious and infamous “Free Basics” pushed by Facebook and other patronizing, new colonization efforts by US Big Tech. India is not falling for it! You won’t be able to turn Indians against Indians like the British did. But surely it is a great thing for Indian citizens and consumers if some Indian conglomerates are pushing back against SpaceX with the Indian government’s blessings. 🚀 🇮🇳

Soon I'm going to start building things from material level. Is it commercially viable option? No Is it needed immediately? No It's just capacity building. It's me trying to understand system from dept so that I can understand real bottleneck.
