It becomes evidence that journalists, investors, lawyers and other authorities can examine independently. And if people can show that they relied on the 21-million maximum-supply figure, or were adversely affected when that information was changed, an official finding could become important evidence in later civil claims — potentially including coordinated or class-action proceedings where the legal requirements are met. So what looks like a negative development may actually create the first real opportunity to move the issue out of our own circle and into a formal public record.
