We launched 2 tools for Streamers and failed to get their attention.

There's one huge skill that often people do not talk about:
The capability of reading source code. It has been the biggest game-changer in my career, it allows me to go beyond documentation when needed and I'm able to learn patterns, tricks, and ways of working from the best

A well-structured codebase is consistent on the following:
Validation
HTTP calls
Sharing code
Error handling
Automated tests
Route declarations
File naming, grouping, and location
Consistency avoids duplication, reduces decision fatigue, aids onboarding, and keeps the app lean.

I’ve authored over 550 Pull Requests at Amazon Web Services.
In the past year, I shipped 90% of my PRs in 1 revision. 5 years ago, it often took me 6+ revisions to address peer feedback.
Here’s my step-by-step process to author and ship a quality Pull Request. A thread:

Testing tip:
The reason for watching a test fail before making it pass is so that you can be sure that the test is actually testing what you think it's testing.
If you never see the test fail, you might unknowingly have created a useless false positive.

👮 Rubocop tip!
If you want to format your ruby code every time you save a file, check this setup below. Running rubocop as a daemon skips all the setup phase and makes everything much faster! ⚡️ Oh, and this makes Standardrb faster too!

ALT A list of imports, ordered in a manner that visually appears in a consistent diagonal line downwards: import { Button } from "@/components/button"; import { Table } from "@/components/table"; import { Link } from "@/components/link"; import { Box } from "@/components/box"; import { Hr } from "@/components/hr";

Imagine if devs had the same standards as weather people.
Your feature is done! There is a 70% chance it works, 20% chance we forgot something you wanted and a 10% chance it completely crashes your computer. Have a good day!
