Google is introducing a new Search Console feature that lets you measure how your content on Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube performs in Google Search.
For years, social performance and search performance have lived in separate reporting worlds. That's starting to change! Instead of only seeing traffic to your website, you'll also get visibility into how people discover your social content through Google.
Why does this matter?
Until now, there was no native way to measure how your brand's social content performed in Google Search or Discover.
Now, Google is giving marketers first-party data on content they don't actually own. That means you can see which social content earns impressions and clicks in Search 👇

Over in my subreddit @onreact shared a hilarious find: Google's Gemini refuses to talk about utopian novels and authors.
I tried that as well and prompted Gemini "Share some memorable 1984 quotes by George Orwell". It started listing some of them, then blinked and gave the same message, "Normally I can help with things like this, but I don't seem to have access to that content. You can try again or ask me for something else."
In case you don't know, George Orwell is the author of the famous “Big Brother is Watching You” quote... 👁️👀
I guess Big Brother doesn't want us to know about the Big Brother 😆

Social media was SEO 2.0 - like twenty years ago.
AI search optimization is just another layer of SEO.
SEO 2.0 (nowadays called social SEO) can help with both, by way of Reddit.

Not sure how these could be useful search results:
1. THREE quick answers (which are pretty repetitive)
2. Repetitive links in answers and organic search
3. Lots of extra info (may be useful but should be much lower on the page (when people scroll down enough to go through what they initially searched)
What am I missing? I feel like Google is just slapping all they can on the page

By "AI SEO" you refer to flooding Google with AI content? Flooding Google is content farming.
AI SEO is about SEO for AI search like AI Overviews on Google IMHO.
Just like local SEO is about ranking for Google's local features, not using locals to flood Google.

So he gets asked why he likes Westerns so much.
In answering the question he goes into that in the history of the West you basically see this idea of 'you can make it... you can have it... if you're strong and tough enough.'
How in the world does this relate to branding?!
His product is a Western movie.
Now, he could have created some typical story of a buncha cowboys looking for gold or whatever.
But instead, he ties whatever story he is going to tell into an idea that has meaning.
In marketing terms, he's taking the raw product (or service) and he's building an identity of substance for it that will automatically and naturally alter that product's entire course both in terms of the development of the product itself and how it can and will be positioned from a marketing POV.
Product identity should naturally lead to brand identity which will naturally lead to how you position that product (again, or service) and what the messaging will be, etc.
So let's say he made a generic 'Cowboys Looking for gold' movie but now it has an added layer of differentiation in that the cowboys looking for gold tells a deeper story of "when you want something bad enough and you can be strong enough you can have that thing".
Now imagine marketing this movie.... everything about how you market it and position it won't be based on the story of Cowboys finding gold but on what that "activity" represents.
Great stuff.

Google has decided to end continuous scrolling in search results (SERPs).
It will be replaced on the desktop with Google’s classic pagination bar, allowing users to jump to a specific page or click “Next.”
A “More results” button on mobile will appear at the bottom of a search page.
But is there more to it? 🤔

We'd like you to make satisfying content that people want. Something that if someone reads, they go, "fantastic!" That was amazing. Listing 100 different ranking factors honestly won't get you to that. Eventually, I'd really like to finally get a document out that explores all this more. But it's like asking "what are the factors that prove to people on social media that I'm authentic?" People don't think someone is authentic because they do some particular thing like how exactly they film or what they wear. They think someone is authentic because ... they're authentic.
