On Thursday, Cllrs will be deciding on the future of the Greenbank-Meadows Quiet Route 🚲🌳🚶‍♀️👩‍🦼 I have written this blog outlining why Greens support strengthening of the route and oppose any measures to reduce filters along it (1) edinburghgreens.org.uk/blog/…

Turns out I have been writing stuff George Orwell said 80 years ago better about why cars should go slower but also nobody will force them to

We’re in the paper 😀. Great to see this spread in @scotonsunday on the @InfraSisters. Our message is clear - Edinburgh must deliver night time cycling infra that’s safe for women and girls. We know many cllrs support this but there’s still a way to go to get 💯% of them.

It appears that a bike has been stolen at Dalmeny Street/Leith Walk. The thief has just unscrewed the rack. Please share far and wide so no one else suffers this. If only someone had warned @TramstoNewhaven, eh?

This kind of smart, walkable, mixed-use urbanism is illegal to build in many American cities.

It’s Transport & Environment Committee tomorrow with Travelling Safely back on the agenda! Greens are bringing an amendment to oppose moves by Tories and Lib Dems to split up, weaken and in some cases even remove active travel schemes, and to instead recognise their importance.

So if these roads are removed from the ETRO process as the LibDems want, does that mean all the current layouts have to be removed and the roads returned to their previous state? Can anyone confirm/correct me if I’m wrong?

“Do I give more weight to a parent whose child was almost hit by a car than to ten drivers who want to save a few seconds? Yes, I do. You have no plan to tackle congestion, no plan for public transport. This is of a piece with other Tory initiatives.”

Remember when Edinburgh declared it wanted to be a model cycling city? It felt fairly laughable at the time, but now all of the genuinely modern cities are leaving Auld Reekie waaaaaaay behind. Keep on worrying about potholes and cycle lanes taking away parking.
Just stop and think about this for a minute — what if YOUR city transformed a key main street this coming summer (like Montreal did with #MontRoyal, actually one of TEN such street transformations last summer) into a 2.5km long pedestrian promenade & living room with 2700 seats?

Who does Kevin Lang want to discuss this with? The drivers illegally driving in the mandatory cycle lane? The drivers who were prevented by the dividers from parking on the pavement?
Replying to @SpokesLothian
#EdinWebCast #DrumBrae seg Cllr @kevin_lang moves #LibDem amendment not to reinstate defenders He wants more discussion Says that driver behaviour unacceptable but hopes it will improve once nearby road closure reopened @CouncillorCowdy (Con) agrees delay reinstatement

🎬 Rediscovered Footage! In 1995, some Chetwynd Road residents & the Pedestrian Association (@livingstreets) had tired of @CamdenCouncil failing to enforce the London ban on #pavementparking. So they took direct action, by bouncing cars off the pavements…

“I won’t get caught, I won’t hurt anyone, and I definitely won’t kill someone.” Of course, it’ll never happen to you, will it? Until it does. If you choose to drink drive, you’ll risk losing it all. Get a lift, take the taxi, or walk. Just don’t drink and drive ❌
