After eighteen months of activism on the Soul Survivor situation, I am stepping away from doing anything more. I’ve written this post which explains more. I’ll be leaving this account open, but it will no longer be checked. mrsglw.wordpress.com/2024/10…

Hi All! @durham_uni have a research project seeking to listen to the voices and perspectives of those who were directly harmed by Mike Pilavachi. This is in response to the way none of the processes (CDM, Scolding Review etc) so far have really listened to those harmed.

I'm so pleased this piece of audio has made it into the public domain. It demonstrates that several Christian leaders heard rumours about Mike Pilavachi years ago and, instead of raising it with safeguarding/trustees etc, they went quietly to Mike to let him know.

This was part of my Bible reading this morning & gets to some of the crux of what’s wrong with evangelicalism. The people in leadership haven’t been equipping God’s people, they’ve been making people dependent & denied them resources which would have equipped them.

And NOW these leaders remain silent and refuse to offer any leadership or guidance because it would be acknowledging their culpability and laying down much of what the leaders are now dependent on, the people’s admiration and blind following of them.

And yes, this is in a wider context where such modes of leadership have been the norm, but the church should always have been different. And they haven’t.

I feel like that headline should basically be in the Onion.

Turns out that for the Diocese of St Albans, courage is more a branding tool than a value.

Replying to @needs_light
I really like Megan (and she did stellar work) but I refused to do the podcast unless they would let me criticize the Magazine itself for its role in helping prop up and platform all these twerps.

I cannot tell you how depressing it is that Megan is no longer at Premier after her stellar work on Soul Survivors while JJohn is guest editing the magazine after continually endorsing Mike Pilavachi & encouraging Russell Brand so much he’s now baptising in his tighty whiteys.
Look who is guest editing @Christianitymag this month 👀

Something very disturbing about all of this with the image that it presents of the naked male & pumped body posted the day after Scolding reports on Mike Pilivachi & his abuse. We are a long way here from John the Baptist, the wild ascetic & acerbic man on the edge calling us to justice & baptizing the Christ and the masculinity that they both present us.
It might seem a bit soon to be baptizing people, but the Apostles did it on day one, so here we are.
