An informed member is our strongest defence against illegal payments.
Thatโs why we introduced the NHIS Education Hub, to equip members with the knowledge they need to understand their rights, know what their NHIS coverage provides, and speak up when they encounter illegal charges.
Knowledge empowers. An informed member protects the integrity of NHIS.

Electronic cigarettes are prohibited in Ghana, yet they remain listed under the 2023 Excise Tax schedule. That contradiction sends mixed signals to consumers, complicates enforcement, and undermines public health policy. A product cannot be illegal on one page of the law and taxed on another.
VAST Ghana is calling for this inconsistency to be corrected. Products that are prohibited should not be accommodated within the tax framework. Protecting public health requires laws that work together and not against each other. A coherent legal framework gives regulators, enforcement agencies, and the public one clear message.
It is time to align Ghana's tax laws with its public health laws to protect the future of all Ghanaians.
