the only acceptable mindset to build 0→1. You manufacture the conviction, then out-stubborn the world until it’s true
you must believe you are special and then go so hard, for so long, with such violent refusal to accept any other ending, that reality itself starts running out of ways to tell you no. you must wage a war daily against the ordinary outcome, until the belief you invented out of nothing in a room by yourself has been hammered into the world so many times that it stops being a claim and becomes reality.

When you talk to successful founders, they always wish they'd hired fewer top managers from outside. I don't think I've ever met a founder who wished he or she had promoted fewer people from within.

Verification is a big part of this gap. Most harnesses look pretty similar at this point. The hard part is figuring out what a good outcome looks like and how to verify it. I see people doing this with FDEs or spending a lot of time building those loops into the product. Often some mix of both. Knowledge capture and verification depend on each other. Getting that loop started + improving over time is the moat is for many application-layer companies.
Yannis and I led forward deployed AI engineering at Palantir. Much of today’s boom is not true FDE work. Companies are filling a product gap with engineering headcount. What comes after that?

great jev use case
Built an SLO-aware inference router using Jev It uses Jev as a typed decision model to select the optimal LLM for each request based on predicted quality, latency, cost, and live backend load Releasing full walkthrough video soon

Future of software is going to be Postgres, Turbopuffer, Jev, Clickhouse, OSS LLM shaped

This recent YC batch is a few hard tech moonshots and a bunch of ultra domain-specific harnesses. Perhaps the most conviction I've had in a batch in a while.

Had dinner with a tier 1 VC in NYC and we were chatting about Bending Spoons and he goes "The Bending Spoons guys are PE guys, they value businesses on EBITDA. In VC we value businesses on VIBEITDA, so its quite different" (posted with permission)

lowkey unhinged to drop this before ipo
Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.

Any serious high-scale infra will get rewritten stateless on object storage. Kafka, Postgres, Snowflake, vector DBs - all moving the same way. Compute will be disposable. S3. Cheaper, more elastic, & eventually better margins. The old replicated model just won’t compete on economics anymore.
We're making Git hosting more reliable, performant, and scalable. This post traces 20 years of Git infrastructure and explains how that history led us to design and operate our Git storage, Origin, as if it were a database. cursor.com/blog/git-at-any-s…

"we never confuse progress with arrival; as soon as we summit a mountain, we immediately look for the next hill climb"
If you’re a young investor trying to make sense of this market, you have to bookmark this and read it line by line. Josh Kushner (whose a legend imo) wrote his first ever formal letter to backers of his $65 billion firm, Thrive Capital. it offers a rare window into where the smartest capital is actually flowing. Winning isn't about diversification anymore…

There may not be many people left in 10 years who can write, or want to read, things longer than a page or two. But there will be at least a few of us, and we'll be a powerful club.

This movement is so impressive actually, not only is it thin, we're talking literally 2 stacked credit cards thin, fully automatic with a micro rotor. BUT, what's even more impressive is the 80 hour power reserve, with the new suspended double barrel, so freaking cool!
I never realised how beautiful the back of the new Ultra Thin Vacheron is, the new cal. 2550, other than the fact that is unbelievably thin, is also just so so gorgeous. (Thinner than Patek as well)
