Brilliant to see the Manton Bay Ospreys together again after a winter apart. The male, 33, returned this afternoon 24 hours after his mate. This will be their tenth summer breeding together, and it’s the earliest they have been reunited in the spring. @rutlandospreys

My nephew has just returned from walking 500mile #CaminodeSantiagio in Spain.
On Euston to Manchester train some scumbag nicked his yellow Herschel backpack. He’s angry about the stolen laptop etc.
But he’s most upset about his journal and #Camino ‘passport’ being stolen.

Surprising. Astounding. Staggering. Unnerving. Bewildering. Flabbergasting. Disquieting. Gobsmacking. Shocking. Mind boggling.

Sad news Amazon have confirmed that they are soon to start building their huge warehouse on Melton Fields. This veteran oak tree and ancient hedgerow, home to lots of birds and wildlife, will be cut down and covered in concrete. Just so people can get more ‘stuff’ 😢

We are shocked and desperately saddened to learn that the famous Sycamore Gap tree at Hadrian's Wall has been felled overnight, in what appears to be an act of vandalism.
We know just how much this iconic tree is loved locally, nationally and by everyone who has visited.
We are working with our partners to understand what has happened and what can be done.
The incident has also been reported to the police.

How many more reports are needed…why isn’t something being done? So many people trying their best but millions more not even seeming to care.
UK wildlife has decreased on average by 19% since 1970 🚨
This is on top of centuries of nature loss driven by human-activity with the UK now one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world.

Please RT widely ! There are other options @CambsCC please consider them before committing ecocide .
Thank you .
In less than a week, on the 21st March @CambsCC will vote on whether to DESTROY its largest traditional orchard. A HABITAT OF PRINCIPAL IMPORTANCE, a 1000 trees, for a £200m tarmac road for buses. A loss @greatercambs claim can be “lessened to non-significant” in 30 years by “mitigation”, it cannot. Media, shine a light on those who have a vote so that we,
and the generations behind us, who will have to pay for their decision, can bear witness 🌳🚌❌🐝

🚨 NEW 🚨 Our annual report #UKPoverty2023 reveals 1 in 5 people are living in poverty, including a heart-breaking 3.9 million children.
The report lays bare the inadequacies of our social security system, with many unable to afford the essentials. 👇

Sorry about being a moaning fucker yesterday. But I’ve literally travelled across India in the 80’s by train in greater speed, comfort and efficiency. We can design apps and websites and algorithms to fleece us but we can’t organize transit down the road. This weird dystopia…

Britain was a much more equal society before Thatcher than it has been at any time since.
In this short THREAD, I just want to try and quickly take stock of what forty years of increasingly deregulated free-market capitalism has actually achieved.

The chicks are now sporting their new rings! Their ring numbers are: 080, 081, 082, 083.
We believe the chicks are all males, BUT at this stage they, particularly the two youngest, are still not quite developed enough to be able to say this for certain.
