I'm winding down on here and ramping up on @bluesky (cbkemp.bsky.social). I cannot continue to fuel Elon Musk's platform that actively promotes hatred and misinformation, and what is now a personal political tool to directly enable and fund Trump. Was great while it lasted.

These 32 #BloodBikes commemorate the 32 people killed on Bloor, Yonge & University in 20-years before bike lanes were built. After bike lanes were installed only one tragic loss of life has occurred in 6-years since 2020. Bike lanes keep EVERYONE save, not only people cycling.

Speed limits on local roads and laneways across Toronto will soon have speed limits of 30 km/h as part of the City's Vision Zero Road Safety Plan. The goal is to reduce the risk of serious collisions and create safer neighbourhood streets for everyone. This work is being implemented on a ward-by-ward basis and will continue through 2028. Ahem. For those who may be unaware, Montreal is a cold *winter* city. Colder and snowier than Toronto. And it now ranks 2nd among the world’s best cycling cities. So don't even. momentummag.com/montreal-ran…

This is what kills me about the 'cycle on side streets' on Yonge crowd. The laziness of the argument.
Is it too much to ask for publishers of articles advocating for cycling routes on secondary roads in Toronto to require their authors to submit a proposed alternative? @RDiManno, is this the sort of secondary route you're thinking as an alternative to the Yonge Street lanes?

The Toronto Police arrested Aly Van Wyck-Smart, a Paralympian with cerebral palsy who was protecting part of the bike lane from removal. On the bright side, the construction workers put the bollards back and said we'd won for the day.

Here’s an excellent example of how the mainstream media irresponsibly helps stoke populist fear and division; 2/3 of people feel completely safe, but they choose to frame it in this way.

A telling, powerful data point about Toronto’s appeal. Businesses are willing to pay a premium to be here. Runs counter to the 'everything is falling apart' narrative that has dominated this campaign.

An expensive culture war stunt. People will die. Senseless.
Tuesday will be a sad day for Ontario. Ford's government is taking us backwards, spending millions taking away bike lanes in Toronto when people across Ontario desperately need money for hospitals, housing, schools and infrastructure. Traffic in Toronto sucks, but instead of providing real solutions like public transit, Ford is performatively removing bike lanes as an expensive culture war stunt. This serves only to make gridlock worse and commuting more dangerous for both cyclists and drivers. Once all the bike lanes are gone, and congestion hasn't improved, we will look back on this as a foolish act of self-sabotage by a government more interested in its own personal vendettas than in making Ontarians' lives better and more affordable.
