Some of y’all have never been yelled at by a middle-aged white lady about something wildly outside the realm of your pay grade while working in the service industry and it shows
something about working in biomedical research is that there is no work from home. you can’t bring your cell culture home. you can’t run a western blot at home. you can’t sit at your cubicle all day. someone moved the antibody you need and you have to ask them where it is
A lot of workplace culture died after Covid and never recovered. Yes, working from home is probably bad for you as a whole - but I’ve noticed in my own workplace that nobody uses the environment as a social launchpad anymore - which should be its biggest utility.
I remember in pre Covid times there were at least moments of serendipitous fun. In this post Covid era rife with economic pessimism, I get the sense that people are generally afraid to take any sort of liberties in the workplace, even if it’s something as benign as taking a long lunch.
Fridays used to have a good energy to them. Now I dread them. You can hear a pin drop in my office most Fridays. Small talk has been killed in the name of productivity. I know this isn’t all workplaces but I have a feeling I’m not alone here.
If you’re lucky enough to work somewhere that hasn’t been managed-to-death, count your blessings. Otherwise I am forced conclude that working from home is the lesser evil, even if not by much.
Sometimes I’ll tell my mom it was a mouse surgery day and she’ll ask me “did you have fun?” and then I’ll grapple with the fact that… yeah, kinda

Hard to gauge merit from effusive early reactions alone but You Can See Everything really is that compelling. What a feast. Several times the theater audibly shifted forward in their seats. Nathan, Elizabeth, and Elizabeth’s evil hung gay coked up husband have something major.
there was one scene in you can see everything where the entire theater audibly gasped and it was about twitter dot com

I don’t think you have a dog in this fight but if you did you would have shot it.
I’ll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day.
And if I’m choosin’ Texas, I’ll take Ken Paxton over James Talarico.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.
I will not be silenced.
Good news if you’re sick of me tweeting about pop girlies because Yellowjackets comes back next month
The democrats don’t want to win they want to have a boogeyman they can point to so you keep giving them campaign money to run candidates that will not win so they can point to a boogeyman so they can get campaign money so they can…
