A lot of workplace culture died after Covid and never recovered. Yes, working from home is probably bad for you as a whole - but I’ve noticed in my own workplace that nobody uses the environment as a social launchpad anymore - which should be its biggest utility.
I remember in pre Covid times there were at least moments of serendipitous fun. In this post Covid era rife with economic pessimism, I get the sense that people are generally afraid to take any sort of liberties in the workplace, even if it’s something as benign as taking a long lunch.
Fridays used to have a good energy to them. Now I dread them. You can hear a pin drop in my office most Fridays. Small talk has been killed in the name of productivity. I know this isn’t all workplaces but I have a feeling I’m not alone here.
If you’re lucky enough to work somewhere that hasn’t been managed-to-death, count your blessings. Otherwise I am forced conclude that working from home is the lesser evil, even if not by much.

Remember when there was Pawn Stars, then Hardcore Pawn, then Pawnography? They should have kept going. Maybe a show about toys called Child Pawn.

The best way I've been able to explain it - Electric cars are kind of the quartz watches of cars. They did number-maxxing so well that stats don't actually impress anyone anymore when they come from an electric car.
It's like coming into an Omega dealer and saying "my Casio keeps better time than your coaxial crap". No shit, Sherlock, we all know. Not really why people are here.
I stopped caring about outright speed and acceleration once 0-60 under 5 seconds became relatively accessible. By 2003 the evo 8 could do it in like 4.5. I just need a balanced chassis and a good interior that’s really it

It's gimmick is that is has thousands of pounds of downforce and 0-60 in 0.8 seconds. It's gimmick.
sorry bud gotta get at it
Am I the only one who thinks it’s insane that we allow two stroke engine leaf blowers to operate in residential areas? Why do so many otherwise sensible people not recognize the extreme externality of that noise? On some of the most beautiful days of the year it’s practically impossible to be outside without exposure to 75-80db of droning noise.
“Schitt’s Creek” star Dan Levy is calling out Shane Gillis' #SNL monologue.
"I’m speechless that something like that can exist on live national television. And to be perfectly honest, more men need to be standing up in opposition to it because it’s complacency that has created the environment in which women are sexually assaulted and it’s a ‘conversation’ as opposed to a ‘crime.'" variety.com/2026/tv/news/dan…

the apocalypse is gunna have like two gunfights a year max and you’ll probably lose the second and die instantly. Zombie shows did so much damage to our brains man. You don’t want the apocalypse you are just desperate for COMMUNITY. Go make friends bro.
I appreciate the whimsy here, I really do. But to me it’s a painful reminder that you can never go back. Just silly shadows on the cave wall with no actual charm or tact. Analog gauges weren’t screens flickering at 60fps in your face. Headache fuel
