to work through two developing scenarios and examine how cascading impacts could affect infrastructure, emergency response, coordination, and continuity of essential functions.
MDEM staff are regularly participating and hosting exercises like these with our partners throughout the state to be prepared for whatever comes next making sure that all the partners are in the room and that resources are ready to go when they are needed. #PreparednessInAction

UPDATE: A diesel leak at the Baltimore County Detention Center in Towson was identified and stopped last night.
Baltimore County, the Maryland Department of the Environment, the U.S. Coast Guard and additional partners are continuing efforts to contain and recover fuel from Long Quarter Branch, a tributary of Loch Raven Reservoir. Crews are assessing the extent of the spill, and cleanup is continuing around the clock.
Residents near affected streams may notice a diesel odor over the next few days. People and pets should stay away from water with a visible sheen or diesel odor.
There is no impact to public drinking water or private wells at this time, and water remains safe to drink. We will continue to provide updates as more information is confirmed.
