While water is safe to consume, @WSSCWaterNews is asking customers to only use water for essential use as crews continue to work on a resolution. Our office is coordinating with state and local officials, as well as @WSSCWaterNews, and we will provide updates as soon as possible.

We’re aware of reports of a fish kill in the Potomac River near Seneca. Our biologist recorded water temperatures at a record 94°F. This can trigger a summer turnover event, when layered warm and cold water suddenly mix and oxygen-poor water rises to the surface, stressing fish.

Ice remains an issue on area waterways & untreated surfaces. Never walk on frozen bodies of water such as the Chesapeake Bay & nearby inlets, rivers, harbors, pools, & ponds as ice could be unstable. Also watch for falling snow/ice from elevated surfaces. #MDwx #VAwx #WVwx #DCwx
