We know residents have questions about the use of Susquehanna River water. This week, @BaltimoreDPW activated the Deer Creek Pump Station to draw water from the Susquehanna River and supplement the regional drinking-water supply. The water will be blended with reservoir water, fully treated and tested, and will continue to meet federal and state drinking-water standards. Our FAQ explains why this step is being taken, how the process works and what residents may notice. Learn more: tr.ee/A38nAY

Beginning Monday, October 5, the @BaltimoreDPW will begin withdrawing water from the Susquehanna River to supplement water from the Prettyboy and Loch Raven reservoirs. Susquehanna water will be blended with Loch Raven water before being treated and tested at the Montebello water treatment plants. You may notice a slight change in taste, odor or color in your water. It will remain safe for drinking, bathing, and cooking. The length of time that Susquehanna River water will be used will depend on rainfall, reservoir recovery, and overall water-supply conditions. The blended water will primarily serve areas supplied by the Montebello plants, including portions of Baltimore County. Areas supplied by the Liberty system are not expected to receive Susquehanna River water. For more information, please visit tr.ee/A38nAY.
