You walk out of a meeting, tell your phone what happened, and the entry is done. Laurel identifies the client, calculates the time, and drafts the narrative before you reach the subway.
That was never possible on a phone. Mobile timekeeping meant a cramped timer and a keyboard too small to write a narrative on, so the work waited for the desktop. By Friday, half of it had faded.
Today we relaunched Laurel Mobile as an AI-native offering.
Describe your work out loud and Laurel turns it into a billable entry. Swipe captured work into your timesheet. Start, stop, and resume a timer from the lock screen. Review and release the full day from the back of an Uber.
Getting credit for your work dies in the gap between doing the work and recording it. Laurel Mobile closes that gap at the moment the work happens. Less time disappears. Less work gets rebuilt. More of the record reflects what you actually did.

The new @getlaurel plugin for @ChatGPT is awesome. I’m setting up a weekly report for myself.

The lawyers we work with have no shortage of ambition. Their tools haven't kept up.
Today we're sharing the Laurel plugin for ChatGPT Enterprise. A lawyer can ask ChatGPT where their week went and find the work Laurel captured that never made it onto a timesheet, without logging into Laurel to go looking. It brings Laurel's record of work, captured at the source, together with ChatGPT's ability to question that record and act on it.
What I did not anticipate is what lawyers would do next with it. Build a weekly readout. Build an agent that flags which matters are eating the week. The work record becomes something they can build on, not just something they review.
Every lawyer has recorded less time than they worked. Until now there was no way to see the difference.
Thanks to our team and everyone at OpenAI who helped get us here.

Yeah, but i can't really imagine myself enjoying a nice walk with friends through the lovely, rejuvenating environment of a data center...
I think anti-tech or "offline" experiences will trend strongly upward in the near future. Also very curious to see what the internet becomes when all content might be slop and there's no way to know.

Would love an invite code if you've got one :)

@profgalloway You’re the man. How were your PRP injections? Worth it? I’m considering.

Do you enter the nutritional info manually? Or can you collect that data from an api somewhere?

I avoid boolean function arguments. Here’s why.
🚩 They’re hard to read.
đźš© They infer the function does two different things
Here's two common examples, with solutions.
Example 1 - Hard to read:
Example 2 - Does two things:
In both cases, the code reads more clearly.

Important to stand still and realize how fast AI is going
Only 15 months ago we got Stable Diffusion launching and then ChatGPT and everything changed
Now we have photorealistic AI photos AND videos, and now everyone is working on creating entire 3d worlds next

i'm looking at $970/mo on AWS for the equivalent compute of my 16gb macbook
seriously thinking of just buying two more macbooks and running omni from my living room

Two Related Problems:
1. useEffect is overused.
2. It's often hard to tell a useEffect is needless, because “useEffect” merely tells me *when* some code should run.
Solution: Name the function passed to useEffect.
âś…Aids review
âś…Clarifies intent
âś…Helps us catch needless use

Amazon got more than 750.000 robots deployed.
Most people don’t realize how fast the robotics industry is scaling
Amazon is the perfect candidate.
10 years ago, robots were practically non-existent in their global warehouse and distribution network.
But this is the actual acceleration ramp-up.
2013: 1,000
2014: 15,000
2017: 100,000
2019: 200,000
2021: 350,000
2022: 520,000
2023: 750,000
Let’s zoom in on the two last jumps.
400,000 additional robotic units in roughly two years.
That results in thousand of new units deployed *every week* 🚀
It’s clear. Beyond doubt. That AI, robotics, computer vision, will and is replacing a lot of human labor. And will continue accelerating that progress in the next decade.
It’s important to note that this will also accelerate the need for more high-skilled work. Make industry safer.
The biggest challenge we will face is the grandeur of re-skilling and up-skilling that will be facing the workforce in a relative short period of time ahead.
We’ve entered the Era of Robotics and The Age of Intelligence all at once.

The part about being a parent that no one talks about being as hard as it is, is just consistently showing up. Even if you’re tired. Even if you’d rather not to.
It’s way more challenging than people give it credit for but is so important.

Today is a big day.
🚀 We are launching our NEW name, brand, and product.
We founded the company with a mission to make people aware of how they spend their time at work so they can use it where it matters most.
Our new identity is a big step in that direction.
