If you do functional programming (like in Wolfram Language) you've probably used lots of pure functions, or lambdas. But what are lambdas like in the wild? Things I'm doing in CS, bio and ML converged to make me curious to find out... And as seems to happen whenever I go exploring in the computational universe ... they surprised me ...

The age of transformers is ending...the dawn of linear-cost architectures is upon us. Power Attention replaces Flash Attention in any transformer, and removes the quadratic penalty of context scaling while achieving strong performance.
The result: domination of both transformers and prior RNNs in loss-per-FLOP. This is the first approach that truly unlocks the ability to train ultra-long-context LLMs.
Today, we're open-sourcing fast kernels for Power Attention (github.com/m-a-n-i-f-e-s-t/p…) as well as a paper explaining its design (arxiv.org/abs/2507.04239).
