We are pleased to highlight this article published by Gruber Lab at @DCI_EM. @RoisneHamelin_F and collaborators used electron microscopy — and in particular our streptavidin affinity grids — to reveal the mechanism by which Wadjet binds to the plasmid to initiate loop extrusion.
Delighted to announce our latest work on how Wadjet loads onto and establishes topological entrapment of plasmid DNA prior to initiating loop extrusion. At Stephan Gruber's lab in Lausanne, @DCI_EM and BSI @IGBMC and with @drhonsworth

Mission accomplie !

Bon….

New publication! We succeeded in crystalizing a designed imaging scaffold (based on a protein cage), opening the possibility to use them to determine the structure of cargoes and small proteins in X-ray crystallography in addition to cryo-EM!

Our latest, parallelized in-house #Python script for periodic signal subtraction for #streptavidin affinity grids, inspired from the work of Schultz and co-worker (doi:10.1016/j.jsb.2004.02.001), can process 6400 micgrographs in ~45 minutes with 16 CPU !

Bored to look at schematic representation of #streptavidin affinity grids ? Here is a real image of the 2D crystal folding on itself. One can see within an unique micrograph both frond and side views of the affinity grid capturing its prey through biotinylated DNA !

Congrats to Patrick Schultz's team for their article on the structure of the NuA4/Tip60 complex. They reveal its structure, how and why it acts at a distance from its binding site.
Great collab with @domhelmlinger @CRBM_Montpel
