LIVE | "Today, the biggest constraint to growth of every business is finding skilled manpower," said Dr @ShamikaRavi, Member, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, addressing the launch of iFOREST's national report, India's Green Economy Workforce.
She pointed to a paradox in India's labour market: unemployment among college graduates is close to 12%, against a national average of around 3.3%. "We have degrees. We don't have skill. The market is now saying, we will reward only skill."
On the report, she said, "Reports like this become extremely important for the government to then design and implement highly localised policies based on economic intelligence. That is what this report has created for the government."

The Stakeholder Dialogue on the Small Hydro Power Development Scheme, held in #Bhubaneswar, brought together policymakers, developers, financial institutions, and sector experts to accelerate SHP development in the state.
Hon'ble Deputy CM Shri @KVSinghDeo1 inaugurated the event alongside Shri @vishaldevk, Additional Secretary to Government of Odisha, and Shri Satya Priya Rath, MD, GRIDCO.
The dialogue, organised by the @EnergyOdisha and @GridcoOdisha Limited, with the International Forum for Environment, Sustainability and Technology (iFOREST), came against the backdrop of the MNRE Small Hydro Power Development Scheme (2026-27 to 2030-31).

Heatwaves are now officially a notified natural disaster in India.
Earlier this year, the 16th Finance Commission recommended this shift, and that recommendation has now become policy, opening up the full State Disaster Response and Mitigation Fund for heat preparedness, response, and mitigation, rather than the earlier 10% cap.
Replug into this comprehensive piece by @rohit_bagai Programme Associate, Urban Resilience, on what this means for fund allocation and how states can translate this eligibility into action.
On the ground, iFOREST has been working to help cities convert this policy opening into action. We are supporting governments such as @Bhubaneswa58217 and @ngpnmc in revising and strengthening their Heat Action Plans that go beyond emergency response to address underlying drivers of urban heat, from cooling infrastructure to urban design.
As this notification opens up new fiscal space, robust, locally grounded action plans like these will be key to translating funding eligibility into real resilience on the ground.

⚡This week iFOREST signed a MoU with The @EnergyOdisha, this is a continuation of our engagements in #Odisha that started in 2022. The new MoU expands the scope of work from @GridcoOdisha and @OREDA_Odisha to other energy utilities and agencies.
Work under this MoU will focus on accelerating green energy adoption and just energy transition in Odisha through the facilitation of knowledge exchange, capacity building and providing planning support.
☀️The state has been making consistent efforts to increase its RE capacity, reaching a total of 688 MW by July 2024, with an investment intent of ₹4.33 lakh crore.
iFOREST will be providing technical and advisory support for designing policies, roadmaps and investment mobilization to achieve 10GW RE capacity in Odisha by 2030.
