I just assumed my full name .com domain would be expensive for some reason, so I was using a .me domain the whole time. Turns out it was $15/year lol, so now I have jackieyi.com
There is always a .com you can get for $5k that's better the tryblurgh.‌ai you're currently using. The reason you don't see it is (a) lack of imagination and (b) because you're attached to Blurgh, which you shouldn't be, because it's not that great anyway.

you don’t have to be extraordinary to justify wanting to do extraordinary things you also don’t have to reject ordinary human desires in order to live an ambitious life

I like the idea here. Robots everywhere just looooove to break - maybe leaning in and building them to be repairable is the real unlock for real world deployment
What happens when a factory robot breaks? Tokyo startup O-ID is building modular humanoids with replaceable joints, limbs and compute units. Its pitch: on-site repairs in minutes, supported by sensors that flag component wear before failure. It has raised $1.2 million in pre-seed funding led by TAWANI Ventures, targeting Japanese automotive manufacturing and logistics first. The modularity is intriguing. Measured repair times, reliability results and a customer rollout schedule are still to come.

Sunday regularly hires the most accomplished and competent people I've ever met. All the full time engineers I met there are really extraordinary
I asked people: "which robotics labs and startups have the highest talent density?" 28 votes: Physical Intelligence (@hausman_k, @svlevine, @chelseabfinn, @adnan_esm, @brian_ichter, @QuanVng, @lachygroom) 18 votes: Generalist (@peteflorence, @andyzengineer, Andrew Barry) 9 votes: Sunday (@tonyzzhao, @chichengcc) 6 votes: Skild AI (@deepakpathak, @gupta_abhinav_) 4 votes: Dyna (@Lindon_Gao, @YorkYang5050, @JasonMa2020) 3 votes: Bracket Bot (@sincethestudy) 3 votes: OpenAI Robotics (@model_mechanic, @PengchuanZ, @ChengshuEricLi) 2 votes: 1X (@BerntBornich) 2 votes: The Bot Company (@kvogt, @pariljain, @lukeholoubek) 2 votes: Figure (@adcock_brett) 2 votes: Genesis (@zhou_xian_, @theo_gervet, @johnsonwang0810) 2 votes: Prometheus (@JeffBezos, @vik_bajaj, @sherjilozair, @wgussml, Alex Graves) 2 votes: Robocurve (@chooi_jeq) 2 votes: Tesla (@elonmusk) 2 votes: Weave Robotics (@kaandogrusoz, @evan_wineland) People couldn't pick a company they work at or founded. Disclosure: I'm a small investor in Physical Intelligence. I didn't vote.

Much of campus is not winning a beauty contest, but Waterloo has tons of charm, an incredible food game, solid transit (ion 🫶), really great parks, local culture and events, and all your friends live in a 15 min walk from campus. I have recs here👇 maps.app.goo.gl/xrpoCm1XyRaw…
waterloo has gotta be one of the most depressing college campuses of all time

With trains travelling at 300 km/h or more, we'll reduce travel times by about half and reshape transportation across a corridor that includes more than 40% of the country's population. For more details: altotrain.ca/en/about-alto/p…

excited to see more waterloo coverage but respectfully this piece did not hit for me. the sauce of waterloo that outsiders don't get is it's all a bunch of mr meseeks boxes when you get into a certain crowd. everyone ropes each other into thinking more ambitiously, something canada overall seems to lack. its filled with misfit kids like me who had ideas and made things and got told that was dumb or otherwise judged for being interested in things. i never got anything more than a "huh, cool I guess" when i showed my friends in toronto my side projects but at waterloo everyone was asking questions and telling me what else I should make. you can't just sit still when everyone else is moving. canadians are nice polite and fall in line, the coastal elites in america are spiky, it's in their founding story to fight and overcome the odds. the engineering coop culture feeds you to cali early, to learn what it means to fight at a startup or at least raise your ambitions to faang a 300k starting salary rather than 80k at a canadian bank. it's also small enough to cross pollinate easily. word gets around much quicker when everyone hangs out in the same 2 buildings and shawarma shops, so if @sincethestudy is building a robot, and I'm semi interested in that, i can look at him and think "why not? if he can do it why can't i do my own thing?" culture begets culture, just as a select few in silicon valley started a movement saying "this is where you need to be to make make the future", waterloo is benefitting from the same momentum. the drain happens because after grad, people's ambitions are so raised from their peers and coops that they get roped into bigger ambitions. and the capitalism is just much better at supporting these ambitions in america, especially in sf or nyc where so many top wloo grads end up. no young hungry ambitious person ever wants to take a step down, and in their internships they're alongside people from harvard stanford mit, so knowing you can stand with them why would you ever stay in canada with a 60% pay cut and a less mature capital allocation scene? that's like expecting a harvard grad to take a consulting job in cambridge instead of new york just because it's closeby. any person I know who's actively chosen to stay is because their ambitions are to make toronto/calgary/waterloo great again, not just "cali or bust" lots more about waterloo than meets the surface, and lots to do here to support the incredible people that pass through it - if anyone wants to learn more please hit me up i'd be happy to chat and point you to awesome people that deserve more love pics from the olden times:
how it started / how its going <3

Imo this is the biggest reason so many waterloo kids end up in the bay - they're better at job hunting, because ALL your peers are doing it. raises the floor, and better job -> better next job -> better next job compounds over several internships
forever grateful to uwaterloo for forcing me to learn how to land a job multiple times a year you don’t realize how out of touch most people are with job hunting

am I crazy or is this not the perfect model architecture to slap onto a robot?
After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI? I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev • 20-200x faster • 40-400x cheaper (w/ output tokens free) • Frontier composable intelligence optimized for decisions AFAICT the shortest path to AI-based economic revolution

No way we have robots rollerblading before GTA VI
We have a huge news to share today! Today we are unveiling the first truly accessible RL robot - welcome Microduck A 25 cm tiny open-source biped with 15 actuators and packed with sensors (camera, speaker, LiDAR, NFC, bluetooth, wifi, etc) that you train yourself with reinforcement learning. It's also playable out of the box with more than half a dozen fun and playful pre-trained policies to have it walk, sit, crouch, roller-skate, pick up objects with its articulated beak, and recover on its own. And all for less than $400. See all the details, play with the simulator and order it at: pollen-robotics.com/microduc… (video with sound on 🔊)

Incredibly cool stuff
Inflatable Whole-Body Robotic Skin with Internal Time-of-Flight (ToF) Depth Sensing and Kinematics-Based Point-Cloud Prediction(IROS2026) An inflatable Baymax costume serves as the robotic skin envelope. Distributed internal ToF sensors detect whole-body contact during dynamic human–robot interaction.
