If you're looking for an awesome open source community that geeks out about systems software (and many other topics), look no further than this incredible project by @awesomekling. Building a truly community designed operating system from scratch!
The SerenityOS discord server has been a huge success so far! 🐞
Over 500 members in just 2 days, and it's full of energy & collaboration.
The huge increase in hustle and bustle is a little overwhelming for me, but I'll try to get used to it! 🤓

I'm open-sourcing Actual.
I'm sad that I couldn't make it work as a sustainable company, but I've seen the magic of open-source before and I'm excited about what can happen here. Read more!

Hands down the worst response I've ever seen in all my life. Open Source dug the grave for Free Software long ago, but this is the nail in the coffin right here.

Still true in a lot of respects today, nearly 50 years since the creation of C! There are a lot of really cool new languages out there, but few have been able to accomplish the simplicity of C as well as the powerful possibilities it provides for software engineering.
Looks good!
For folks trying to get their head around PEP 634 (pattern matching), which will land in the next alpha release of 3.10, here's a brief tutorial I wrote: (more concise than the introduction in PEP 636): github.com/gvanrossum/patma/…
And just in time, too. I was looking for a new backpack to replace the one I've had for seven years! Happy I'll get to sport around the @ubuntu logo!
Just received this in the mail from @Canonical via #KubeCon. I passed this up over a decade ago ($50 was a lot of money back then 😉) and regretted it ever since. Really awesome that I was able to get one just before @ubuntu 20.10 Groovy Gorilla. Thanks #Canonical! 😃🤘
Anyone interested in all the awesome stuff coming out with @OpenZFS 2.0, should sign up and check out these amazing talks. Been some great conversations about the L2ARC already!
We'll be starting the OpenZFS Developer Summit in 30 minutes (9:00 Pacific). Here's the live stream, which will be public around 8:50: youtube.com/watch?v=qggeZu4y…
I truly can't express how great all of the people at @DestLinuxPod have been to me since I first started writing about Linux in January. The kindest, most helpful, and pure awesome people out there. If you haven't checked out their many awesome shows, it is highly encouraged! 🤘

Just wrote about this new format for #RHSummit in the latest edition of @linux_plus_plus. I think it is an awesome idea and more open source companies should look at a hybrid approach to community engagement like this! Awesome job, @RedHat 😃👍👏
Want the latest news about @RedHatSummit? It's here! The premier #opensource conference is expanding in 2021 to include a two-part immersive virtual experience, followed by a series of in-person events. Learn more: red.ht/3jprOec
The L2ARC has been intrigiing to me for a while now...excited to see the improvements made with the persistent version of the algorithm!
The L2ARC cache device improves read performance, but it can't when it's empty. Thanks to the new Persistent L2ARC project, the cache is not cleared when rebooting. At OpenZFS DevSummit, @gamanakis will explain the data structures and algorithms behind this new feature.
