What is the worst thing you have ever done? Write it on a sticker and put the sticker on the front of your shirt and wear it everywhere you go. Nothing you can ever do will cover that label up – everything is seen through that stain. This is a convict’s life – FOREVER

Mail bans give incarcerated people and their families one more reason to use paid communication options like phone calls, video calls, and tablets. Private vendors always profit from these services - and often, they kick back some of the revenue to the prisons.

Last month Connecticut became the first state in the country to make prison phone calls free. It’s a huge victory for the incarcerated and their families and will transform the lives of children with incarcerated parents. Every single state should do this. theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv…

I once imagined myself becoming a boxer but I had 21 years to do in prison and so it was a lost cause.
Later I imagined myself becoming a mobile developer but I had never held a smart phone. It was an unlikely goal.
Today I officially started a new job as an iOS engineer.

Many of us have been doing our best to socially distance during this pandemic. But imagine if you were confined to a small 6’ X 8’ cell in a space designed to keep you in. Not ideal for the whole 6 feet distancing thing is it? 1/ – at Brooklyn, NY

I asked the Texas prison system for an updated list of banned books and they have so many banned books that they want to charge me $400 for a spreadsheet listing them.
This is astonishing in part because it is a list that already exists.
