With the NFL season kicking off tonight, there’s no better time to announce that I’ve joined @TheAthletic as a Senior NFL Editor.
Super excited to be part of an organization I’ve admired from afar for years and to work alongside such a talented group of journalists.

Minter didn't dismiss the idea of bringing in another kicker.
He's been pretty reluctant to criticize or challenge players publicly early in his tenure as HC, but he's been pretty strong about frustration with Loop's misses today.
Another week, another vague update from #Ravens coach Jesse Minter regarding Lamar Jackson.

Minter said he really didn't consider going for it here with how the offense was struggling. Didn't want to risk giving up the ball on their own side of the field.

Jonathan Gannon may not have been the flashiest DC hire, but it certainly looks like the right one.
Without Micah Parsons and Edgerrin Cooper, Gannon has his defense playing like one of the NFL’s best.

Ravens next 3
Wk 7: vs. Bengals (Oct. 25, 1 pm); Bengals coming off Wk 6 bye
Week 8: at Bills (Nov. 1, 1 pm): Bills coming off Wk 7 bye
Week 9: vs. Jags (Nov. 5, 8:15 pm): Jags a week removed from Week 7 bye.
We'll know a lot more about Ravens after next 3.

As it turned out, it was all a tease. The late-game execution. The clutch FGs. The win-preserving stops. All of it.
In loss to Browns, the Ravens showed that they still have a knack for dropping games they have no business losing.

Evan Williams is quickly turning into one of the NFL’s best safeties

Packers go 4-for-4 on third down on their opening possession:
3rd-and-5 --> 15 yards to Savion Williams
3rd-and-13 --> 27 yards to Christian Watson
3rd-and-13 --> Pierre Strong 14-yard catch
3rd-and-9 --> Matthew Golden 9-yard TD
It seemed as though the Ravens bucked the trend of late-game failures with wins over the Cowboys and Falcons.
Then came a 13-10 loss to the Browns. And now come games against the Bengals, Bills and Jaguars.
Are the Ravens any different from last year?

Doesn’t seem like Quinshon Judkins will play for the Browns today
#Browns RB Quinshon Judkins (questionable, ankle) finished his workout with Duce Staley and walked back into the locker room. Andrew Berry watched. He seemed to have some discomfort on stops and starts. There were no high-fives after the workout.
The Commanders and 49ers play Monday night.
Brandon Aiyuk won’t be on the field for either team — and it’s unclear if he’ll ever step on an NFL field again.
So what happened? Let @MikeDugar explain

The NFL is expected to suspend Jacobs, but it's TBD on how many games. If the league decides on a six-game suspension, he won't miss any more games after Sunday's matchup with the Cowboys. If it's more than six, then he'll miss more games. For now, he'll be eligible to play against the Lions next Sunday.
Kyle Stackpole retweeted
Lamar Jackson again not practicing in portion open to media, so he’ll presumably miss his second straight game with ankle injury.
Quality insight on how the Ravens are having success in the running game (without just mashing Derrick Henry).

From Weeks 1-3, the Packers ranked 31st in pressure rate allowed.
In Weeks 4 and 5, they rank first.
Behind the remarkable offensive line improvement are two new guards who came out of nowhere. Will they stay in the lineup?

A few guys still trickling out on practice field, but no sign of QB Lamar Jackson. Minter has consistently said that Jackson wouldn’t necessarily need to practice to play Sunday. But it’s been 10 days now since he’s been on field. Seems pretty obvious where this is headed.

“There’s no bad blood with anybody who’s been here."
A productive partnership yielded a disappointing and tumultuous ending between the Ravens and Todd Monken.
Yet, the reunion takes a backseat to Browns’ latest test
