I think it's different strokes for different folks. I started my tech journey in my sophomore year without knowing where the power button of a PC is located 😅 (I mean literally. @Deezydasurf and @mayowa_adebolu might be the only witnesses that I can @ now I am afraid).

What I will recommend if you are considering a tech career is to spend time building the fundamentals, then you can niche down. Try not to treat a niche as a single entity on its own because most are interconnected. Let me put it in perspective. Say you are considering Data Analytics. Your fundamentals will be Python, SQL, a visualization tool, and maybe Excel. Don’t take a crash course in Python, learn all the important fundamentals - I’m talking Data Structures, OOP, etc. Then do the same for all other tools, spend time understanding the important stuff. So you won’t have holes/gaps in your knowledge that will hurt you in the future. Then in the future, you can now scale up as your career grows. Maybe there’s a Data Engineering opening, you can put in for it, and you’d be fine learning other niche tools that you will need to be successful in data engineering. In summary, in anything, spend time learning the fundamentals, then you can be versatile enough to get a solid role in what you’re interested. You won’t have to worry about saturation. Figure out what fundamentals means to your path. All the best 🙏🏾 – at Ashford, England
If you're just coming into tech, I'll advise not to go for paths like frontend, backend, or design. The market for these roles is already saturated. Consider data analytics, cyber security, cloud engineering, or even customer engineering, and then japa if you can.
