Fuelling Moscow’s war machine? U.S. and Europe are buying record levels of Russian energy exports October 16, 2026 The war in Ukraine has always been about fomenting a proxy war to defeat Russia. https://strategic-culture. su/news/2026/10/16/fuelling-moscows-war-machine-u-s-and-europe-are-buying-record-levels-of-russian-energy-exports/ The contradictions are absurd but instructive of the criminal proxy war that the U.S. and European powers have perpetrated against Russia under the guise of “defending Ukraine”. Western sanctions on Russia – the most heavily sanctioned nation on Earth – were meant to supposedly punish Moscow for its alleged unprovoked aggression against Ukraine. The United States recently signed into law a “sanctions bill from hell” in honor of the late war hawk Senator Lindsey Graham, aimed at crushing the Russian economy, principally by shutting down its energy exports. Likewise, the European Union has implemented more than 20 rounds of sanctions imposed on Russia over the past four years, again purportedly to block Russian exports of oil and gas. The EU has vowed to terminate all Russian energy imports by the end of this year. The official rationale out of Washington and European capitals is to exact retribution on Russia for its alleged invasion and violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty. Western embargoes on Russia’s economy were immediately announced after Moscow launched its Special Military Operation in February 2022. (The real background to the SMO – unreported by Western media – was the NATO-backed coup in Kiev in 2014, and the arming of NeoNazis to conduct a proxy war against Russia.) The U.S. and European Union, as well as Britain of course, presented the attempted economic blockade of Russia as a demonstration of the West enforcing international law and supporting Ukraine. The latter is portrayed in Western media as a fair maiden of democracy assailed by a drooling Russian tyrant. In a nutshell, the sanctions are sold to the Western public as a plausible way of neutralizing “Russia’s war machine.” If Moscow’s oil and gas exports could be cut off, then, the dubious logic goes, Russia would not be able to continue its war effort in Ukraine. However, laughably, the supposedly noble Western rationale is in tatters this week after the U.S. Treasury lifted sanctions off Russian diesel exports for the next six months in order to boost global oil supplies and curb soaring energy prices. Another shattering blow to the facade of Western “principles” was the disclosure by Russia’s energy minister, Alexander Novak, that the European Union has continued to buy Russian energy exports at nearly pre-war levels. (Cue Western media silence on that!) Since 2022, the EU has bought a total of $320 billion worth of Russian hydrocarbons. To put the expenditure in perspective, that far exceeds what the European governments have donated to Ukraine, some $226 bn, according to EU data. eeas.europa.eu/delegations/u… How’s that for a contradiction? The European governments are throwing hundreds of billions of taxpayers’ money at Ukraine supposedly to defend itself against Russia, yet these same governments are giving Russia much, much more by buying its energy resources. In other words, to use their own rhetoric, Brussels and other European capitals are “fuelling the Russian war machine.” As for the United States, it is equally duplicitous. The Americans blew up the Nord Stream pipeline in 2022 so that Europe would not be at the mercy of Russian oil dependency. Washington also imposed sanctions on Russian energy while increasing its more expensive gas exports to Europe. Yet last Friday, October 9, President Donald Trump announced, to the dismay and alarm of the Europeans and Ukraine, that he had made a deal with Vladimir Putin to release 3.5 million tonnes of Russian diesel onto the world market to ease pressure on crippling pump prices. Whatever happened to American laws against “trading with the enemy”? Of course, Trump is desperate for relief over record-high fuel prices as a result of his criminal aggression against Iran and Iran’s closure of the Persian Gulf oil route in retaliation. With the mid-term Congressional elections only three weeks away, Trump is seeking to assuage angry American consumers and spare his Republican Party from an electoral drubbing that will tarnish his presidency. Out of sheer expedience, Trump wants Russian diesel exports to save his political neck. Some observers may question whether Moscow should oblige Trump considering that Washington is arming the NeoNazi Kiev regime with missiles and intelligence. Perhaps the Kremlin is calculating that Trump could finally pull off a peace deal in Ukraine. Another smart move by Moscow, perhaps, is that the diesel deal with Trump has managed to unleash a storm of recriminations from Europe and Ukraine, which is severely undermining the transatlantic axis. Is this political judo by Putin? The European NATO partners and the Kiev puppet president Vladimir Zelensky reacted with unprecedented insults and defiance of Trump. They accused the American leader of treachery and of siding with Russia. Within Washington, Trump has also been lambasted for “betrayal”. Trump and his aides hit back furiously, dismissing the Europeans as “hypocrites” over their own record purchases of Russian energy exports. Trump even called for Zelensky to be replaced by someone who he can work with. For his part, Zelensky doubled down with truculence, badmouthing Trump for being “weak” and accusing him of putting Ukrainian lives at risk. He refused to stop Ukrainian air strikes on Russia’s oil refineries, as requested by the White House. And the little money-grabbing, narco-Führer also attempted blackmail by suggesting to Trump that he would halt air attacks on Russian energy infrastructure “if” the Pentagon supplied more Patriot missiles. Trump’s anger has exploded over Zelensky and his European patrons. He sees their obstruction of his diesel deal with Russia as not only hypocritical but a political attack on his presidency ahead of the crucial November polls. The debacle is a rich farce. American and European posturing is seen for what it is, without any principle or genuine motives. It is a plague on all their houses. Both the U.S. and its European partners are buying Russian energy like never before to sustain their struggling economies. The sanctions they imposed on Russia never had anything to do with “upholding international law” or “defending Ukraine”. Using their own disingenuous logic, the NATO nations are fuelling the Russian war machine with their continuing business-as-usual purchase of Russia’s oil and gas. That contradiction, in turn, exposes the fraud of the war in Ukraine. It was never about defending democratic Ukraine – a corrupt NeoNazi dictatorship – or European security from Russian “threat”. The whole murderous episode has always been about fomenting a proxy war to defeat Russia. That covert policy is a gargantuan crime of aggression that has cost millions of lives and bankrupted Western societies. What’s more, it is an utterly failed policy which Western governments are covering up to avoid accountability. The destruction and deception go hand in hand. What is all the more damning is that this travesty could have been easily exposed years ago if the Western news media had actually reported on facts instead of being the propaganda service they so evidently are to enable criminal aggression by their imperialist masters.

‼️ It's not an easy task to ascertain the truth while living in the empire of lies, but if you pay careful attention to the right indicators, it's possible to discern its contours. One salient truth: Iran has total fire control over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran is the gatekeeper.
SIGNIFICANT: The UKMTO’s monthly report has just been filed, and one line stands out: “UKMTO struggling to accurately report true number of attacks with majority of vessels attacked refusing to report to UKMTO.” I’m sorry, you said MAJORITY? As in >50%? If this statement holds true for October, that means you’re taking about nearly SIXTY vessels that would have been struck by Iran in the first two weeks of the month… The U.S. can’t defend these vessel AT ALL.

A Little Girl Watches Her Mother Burn Alive in Gaza During a So-Called Ceasefire At dawn today, Israeli warplanes struck an apartment belonging to the Awad family in Gaza City. A massive fire broke out, leaving several family members dead or injured. As people searched for those still missing, they heard a little girl screaming. When they reached her, they found her sitting on her bed, watching helplessly as her mother burned alive in front of her. I cannot begin to imagine what that little girl went through. I cannot put myself in her place, not even for a second. What happens to a child’s mind when she watches her mother burn to death before her eyes? How does she ever recover from something like that? And what could this cruel, complicit world possibly do to make up for even a moment of such horror? The little girl was pulled from the fire alive. But I cannot bring myself to call that survival. Something inside her must have died in that room, something she may never get back. She will grow up carrying the memory of that night, of sitting on her bed, screaming for her mother as the flames consumed her. That may be the last image she ever has of the woman who brought her into this world. My God. How is a child supposed to live with that?

📜 Staggering Towards the Abyss Many geopolitical observers are fretting needlessly over the massive US/NATO military exercises that have commenced in eastern Europe. I, on the other hand, am thoroughly convinced it is all theatrical posturing. The US and all its impotent European vassals combined could not defeat Russia in a high-intensity industrial-scale war. They lack both the means and the requisite competencies to do so. I am more convinced than ever that the US could NOT establish air superiority against Russia — not in a week; not in a year. Never. It simply could not be done. It would be a logistical power projection challenge well beyond the current capabilities of the United States military. American air power would prove substantially inferior to the extremely potent and abundantly supplied air defenses fielded by the Russians. Just as the majority of HIMARS-launched GMLRS rockets, HARMS missiles, ATACMS missiles, and British Storm Shadow missiles are now being defeated in Ukraine, the vast majority of US long-range precision-guided missiles would be shot down or disabled by electronic countermeasures, and the US would very rapidly deplete its limited inventory of these munitions in a futile attempt to overwhelm the Russian capacity to keep shooting back. American suppression of enemy air defenses would prove inadequate to the task of defeating extremely sophisticated, deeply layered, and highly mobile air defense radars and missiles. American “stealth” capabilities would prove to be illusory. A great many military experts around the world already know this to be true. You simply cannot fly tons of airframe, miles of wiring, and hot jet engines in the sky and not be tracked and targeted by Russia’s best-in-class systems. And in the likely rare instances of beyond-visual-range “dog fights” between US and Russian aircraft, US air-to-air missiles would be consistently and considerably outranged by their Russian counterparts. If they were to fly into air defense coverage areas, American and other western aircraft would be shot down in droves. Worse yet, the war in Ukraine has made perfectly clear that all manner of western air defense systems are inferior to even the decades-old Soviet S-300 and Buk systems that Ukraine originally deployed. And even if western systems were formidable, they simply don’t exist in anything approaching the numbers necessary to provide credible defense in broad scope and depth. To complicate matters even further, scant US munitions inventory and insuperable production limitations would allow the US to prosecute an air war against Russia or China for only a few weeks at most. Moreover, in a high-intensity combat scenario in either eastern Europe, the China seas, or the Persian Gulf, the maintenance demands for US aircraft would overwhelm its proximate supply. Mission-capable rates would plummet even lower than their notoriously abysmal peacetime standards. The US would, quite literally after only a few days, see sub-10% mission-capable rates for the F-22 and F-35, and sub-25% rates for almost every other platform in the inventory. It would be a huge embarrassment for the Pentagon ... but hardly a huge surprise. And this is hardly hyperbole. It is more or less common knowledge among those who think about these aspects of war — the only aspects that really matter in the final analysis. US supply lines would be severely attrited on both a regional and a global scale. Russian and Chinese submarines and long-range anti-ship missile systems would wreak havoc on US seaborne logistics. Simply put, US air power as a theater-wide undertaking could not be sustained in the context of a non-permissive regional and global battlefield against one or more peer adversaries. In eastern Europe, Russia would savage NATO bases and supply routes. The Baltic and Black seas would effectively become Russian lakes where NATO shipping could not venture. In the China seas, US carrier strike groups and amphibious assault formations would be subject to massive and relentless attacks from the air and the sea. Against Iran, the Persian Gulf would become an Iranian pond in which Iran controlled both ingress and egress via the Strait of Hormuz, even as Iranian missile strikes devastated US bases throughout the region. Many are convinced these are unfounded hysterical assertions. In my view, the simple military, mathematical, and geographic realities of the situation dictate these conclusions, and those who resist them are typically blinded by the myth of American exceptionalism and its attendant ills to such a degree that they are unable to discern things as they really are. There has also been relatively little recognition nor discussion of the crescendo pace with which Russia, China, and Iran have been conducting military coordination in general, and naval drills in particular, over the past few years. Russia and China are now engaging in joint naval patrols of the western Pacific, and even along the coast of Alaska. Russia, China, and Iran are engaging in regular joint exercises in the Arabian Sea. This is not meaningless posturing. These are the actions of countries who intend to engage in mutual defense in the event of an attack on any one of them. I am increasingly persuaded that, if the US chooses to make direct war against either Russia, China, or Iran, it will result in a war against all three simultaneously. And that, amazingly enough, is just one of multiple hard truths that the #EmpireAtAllCosts cult, and those acquiescing to its delusional designs, ought to give more serious consideration as they continue staggering towards the abyss of a war they could never win. If you read one thing today, make sure it is this: In a stunning piece published by the head of one of Israel's most prominent think tanks, Maj. Gen. Tamir Hayman describes the reality of Israel's new security doctrine: A few crucial principles he describes: 1. The United States is a “declining power” and, given its ongoing social and political shifts, will soon abandon Israel in any event. This is compelling Israel to move toward greater self-reliance in order to avoid "excessive dependence" on the US since it "exposes Israel to the influence of a progressive American value system that is incompatible with Israel's Jewish character." Then he concludes: "Severing ties with the United States is therefore not only inevitable, but essential to Israel’s independence and the resilience of its Jewish national identity."
