🇪🇬🇸🇦 Egypt’s Parliament has postponed a vote on authorizing the deployment of troops to Saudi Arabia for a defensive mission. Deliberations are set to continue on Monday and Tuesday.
Sources say at least three lawmakers have voiced opposition to the proposed deployment.
Parliamentary approval is the final step required to authorize troops deployment, following a decision earlier today by Egypt’s National Defense Council, chaired by el-Sisi, to provide KSA with “all necessary and available forms of support” to safeguard its security and stability, protect its resources and territorial integrity, and defend Islamic holy sites.
🇾🇪🇸🇦 The Houthis have released footage confirms they shot down a Saudi Arabian National Guard AH-6 Little Bird helicopter over Najran in southern KSA.
Saudi authorities had already acknowledged the crash and the deaths of both pilots, attributing it to a technical malfunction.
🇪🇬🇸🇦🇾🇪 Egyptian MP Mostafa Bakry says the National Defense Council, chaired by President el-Sisi, has approved the deployment of Egyptian troops to KSA for a defensive mission. He added that Parliament will convene shortly to make the final decision.

Speaking at a graduation ceremony for military academy and college cadets, Sisi said: “I call on parliament to hold an emergency session to authorize us to intervene in Saudi Arabia’s defense if asked to do so.”
“Such action requires parliamentary approval, and I hope parliament will convene an emergency session to grant that authorization,” he added. “We are not seeking to attack or wage war. Our aim is solely to defend.”

🇪🇬🇸🇦 Egypt’s Rafale deployment to the UAE did not receive parliamentary approval, as the mission was limited in scope. The call for parliamentary authorization to intervene militarily in support of KSA signals a potential shift toward deeper Egyptian involvement.

🇪🇬🇮🇱 Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said he had repeatedly told @Netanyahu during their meetings since 2013 that establishing a Palestinian state would bring lasting stability for everyone and pave the way for Israel’s full integration into the region, but Netanyahu consistently rejected the idea.
“Ultimately, he is responsible for his country, and he knows full well that Egypt poses no threat,” Sisi said.
Sisi also recalled: “Netanyahu once asked me directly, ‘Why are you arming yourself? Why are you buying weapons?’ I told him, ‘I have never viewed Israel’s military strength as a threat to Egypt, and I think you should view Egypt’s military strength the same way. We live in a volatile region, and we need to be strong to preserve peace with Israel and across the region.”
🇪🇬🇮🇱 Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi responds to Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s remarks that Egypt would not go to war for fear of losing Sinai:
“Who said we wanted to go to war? We have no agenda against anyone. We fought to get our land back, and we did. That’s settled. Are you still gripped by the same paranoia from 60 years ago? Do you still think we want your land? My only goal is to protect my country, its borders and its territory. As long as we respect each other’s territory, Sinai is ours and our borders are secure, we have no hidden agenda against anyone.”

As If Israel Didn't Have Enough Problems: Why Picking a Fight with Egypt Is a Strategic Mistake
The obsession of some Israeli ministers and politicians with confronting Egypt is not only counterproductive but also fundamentally at odds with Israel's national security interests.
Those attempting to portray Egypt as an enemy of Israel should answer a simple question: Do they seriously want Israel to rebuild its Southern Command's military capabilities for a potential confrontation with Egypt? Are they suggesting that Israel should once again prepare for war on its southern front? And with what resources, exactly?
Fifty-three years after the last major war between Israel and Egypt, there seems to be a troubling loss of historical memory regarding what relations between the two countries looked like before the historic peace agreement.
The peace treaty with Egypt is one of the most important strategic assets Israel possesses. Preserving it is arguably even more important to Israel's national security than expanding the Abraham Accords, including normalization with Saudi Arabia, as significant and desirable as that would be.
This does not mean ignoring Egyptian actions that may violate the peace treaty. Any such concerns must be addressed seriously through direct dialogue between Jerusalem and Cairo, with Washington playing an important role when necessary.
But Israeli politicians must stop treating Egypt as an adversary, stop making empty threats, and stop fueling tensions that are already dangerously high.
Israel has more than enough security challenges. Turning its most important Arab peace partner into another potential front would be an extraordinary strategic mistake.
The peace with Egypt should never be taken for granted. It took enormous political courage to achieve it, and preserving it requires strategic responsibility, not political grandstanding.
