The internet and this platform in particular can be a cesspool, but it is redeemed by the fact that an account run by, as i just discovered a 17 year old can offer the best and most in depth data analysis and visualization of electoral results is available for all to read here.

Many of my more leftist friends (and frenemies) have pushed me on whether Abundance has “a theory of power.”
I often say it does — but they’re not going to like it. And that’s in part because its theory of power is liberal rather than populist.

CANADA CAN NO LONGER AFFORD TO BE GOVERNED BY LUXURY BELIEFS

I wrote this piece knowing it may be controversial. It touches on housing (and yes, Ontario’s greenbelt), infrastructure, immigration, and even climate.
“The systems that once delivered rising prosperity no longer function in practice—they now produce delay, contradiction, and paralysis.
The reason is simple. We’ve spent a generation legislating luxury opinions—ideas that sound virtuous, cost nothing to say, and deny the trade-offs real progress requires.”
“This is how the governing class speaks now—pretending we can build a fairer country without disrupting an unfair one. They will say anything except the truth: that progress requires tough choices, and those choices will upset someone. And in Canada, not making those choices has become our national pastime—it has made every problem we have even harder to fix.”

Worst time for a power outage with many relying on sump pumps to avoid basement flooding.
We’re currently responding to widespread outages due to a loss of supply affecting large areas throughout the city. We’re currently working with @HydroOne to restore power. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.

Canada needs to start thinking this way as well. Most of the country is a climate haven in waiting, but without the infrastructure to support the economic development needed for a wave of migrants moving north.
“In 2022, climate change and climate-related disasters led nearly 33 million people to flee their homes and accounted for over half of all new numbers of people displaced within their countries.” noemamag.com/the-bold-idea-t…

Seeing lots of discussion and skepticism on foreign student caps. Let me note that IRCC has rich data on the immigration and labour market outcomes of former foreign students by DLI. Why not reward schools who attract and educate the folks who are getting the best outcomes?
