Follow the money on Trump's arch, and it gets a lot uglier than a bad skyline. We already know Trump wants his 250 foot arch built between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. When asked who it was for, he said one word. "Me." Friday's NPS report actually ADMITS the arch will cause "adverse effects" to the Lincoln Memorial and the Arlington sightline. They admitted it, and greenlit it anyway. Here's the real story. NPS records show $323 million rerouted this year alone into Trump's pet projects, a nearly 5,000 percent jump from 2024. The Park Service sits on a $23 billion maintenance backlog. Yosemite's own scientists have been pulled off research to clean campground restrooms. The arch itself is being funded through a White House created entity called Freedom 250, which doesn't have to disclose its donors. For $10 million or more, corporate sponsors get VIP access, a July 4th speaking role, and a private, Trump hosted reception with a photo opportunity. Sponsors include Palantir, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, ExxonMobil, and United Airlines, companies that hold multi-billion dollar federal contracts. Only three of roughly two dozen sponsors have actually disclosed their donations, even though federal lobbying law requires it. Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA) led a Democrat only investigation and released a report in July accusing Freedom 250 of potential wire fraud. Donors believed they were giving to the official, bipartisan America250 commission, and were instead routed to Freedom 250's account. Republicans on the committee refused to even participate. Sycophants protect the man in charge, not the truth. No confirmed director in over a year. One nominee pulled after his own company was caught suing the agency he'd lead. That's not an oversight. An empty chair at the top of the National Park Service means no one is positioned to say no. Not to the arch. Not to the $323 million rerouted to Trump's pet projects.
