Dear Hina, Your point is valid! It shouldn’t have happened! I and many on this platform strongly condemn this! But unfortunately over the last 16 months of PDM, the kind of tyranny & brutality that has been unleashed by state agencies, under the cover of PMLN & PPP, has weakened the shared cultural & civic bond! Pakistani mind has regressed! And still the state brutality continues! I am glad that you & your son are safe! Unfortunately thousands of Pakistani men & women, on Independence Day, are suffering in jail. Hundreds have been injured, dozens died in state brutality & more than a hundred civilians await trial by military courts! I am sure you feel the pain of Shaheed Arshad Shareef’s mother, his children & widow! And you must have called Imran Riaz’s wife to assure her & his children of the support of your govt & leader Nawaz Sharif! And Nawaz Sharif Sb must have at least told you of his pain on how Senator Azam Swati, Jameel Faruqi & Dr. Shahbaz Gill were stripped naked & beaten! Ayyaz Amir assaulted & many of us had to run from Pakistan fearing for our lives! And you must have felt anguish when your govt controlled police filed fictitious charges of terrorism against journalists trying to raise voices from abroad! We don’t even know the condition of a cancer survivor, former Health Minister & respected Prof of Gynaecology, Dr. Yasmin Rashid rotting in jail after 90 days? Being treated like a terrorist by Pakistani state! I am sure, like all of us your heart bleeds when you think of Sanam Javaid & her children! Tayyaba Raja, Aliya Hamza! Khadija Shah! Wives of Omar Sarfaraz Cheema & Shaheryar Afridi! And you must have cried like I did publicly when an invalid woman was thrown out of her wheel chair by Punjab Police! And one prominent TV Anchor, aligned with your party leadership used my “teary eyed clip” to make fun of me! I am sorry for the indecency you faced in London! This shouldn’t have happened! But fear the day, the victims in Pakistan became the aggressors! And took out their anger against all those who have unleashed tyranny against them & their children! Let’s all of us work together towards a better & human Pakistan! A Pakistan that feels for all, respects all! Not only the generals & their families but civilians too! Amen!
