At this year’s @USTreasury Christmas Reception, it was my privilege to present Shirley E. Gathers with the Hamilton Award, the highest recognition that the Treasury Secretary can bestow on a Treasury employee. With a career spanning more than four decades and six Secretaries, Shirley has served the American people with exceptional humility, dedication, integrity, and an unshakeable commitment to public service. Her legacy has set the gold standard for administrative professionalism, and it was my honor to also announce the Creation of the Shirley E. Gathers Award for Administrative Excellence. Going forward, this award will be given specifically to administrative professionals who, like Shirley, exemplify the utmost professionalism, judgment, and attention to detail in their work. We hope that she will come back every year for its presentation. Congratulations again, Shirley, on a remarkable career and a well-deserved retirement.
