Note the mostly buried news that State Dept closed @HillaryClinton email probe with this verdict: no big deal. As a journalist, I regret my role in blowing this story out of proportion.

Not a question but there are great tree books out there that can help you understand what your trees and shrubs need. I personally like native species as they donβt require much work once planted and help support the natural ecosystem. #GrowingNorth π²π³

Northern Alberta is very clay based soil. Look for a native tree that does well in clay or other species that like bad soil conditions. I recommend Trees of Canada book. Fantastic resource for trees. #GrowingNorth

A6. I would say there are quite a few. For example, planting too deep, planting too shallow, planting too close to structures, planting without consideration to future water or growth needs, planting too close to other trees, and more. #growingnorth

Not digging a hole wide or deep enough. Also not taking into consideration the species of tree and planting it an area that it wonβt grow well. #GrowingNorth

A5: IMO, clay muck is the worst because you risk the root mass staying too wet & rotting.

Q5) Is there a βbadβ soil for trees? Can you βfixβ the soil if needed? #GrowingNorth

Depends on the species. For example Pine like sandy to sandy loam in upland areas and Spruce and Cedar like their feet wet. Some do great in acidic soil and others love more alkaline soil. Except Willow, Willow will grow anywhere. #GrowingNorth

CPR in a diving bell anyone?
Just hang the diver up, partially flood the chamber, inset an OP, apply a collar, and commence chest compressions with your head or knee ππ

Our raised bed garden isnβt that big because we have dogs that take up the rest of the yard lol. But I love the concept of vertical and small space gardening. Like wall planters and trellis design. Be creative π€#GrowingNorth

My garden from last summer. You can grow a lot in raised beds. Although most of my neighbours grow in the ground. #GrowingNorth
