I wrote about Karthik Subbaraj's DOROTHY, its proximity to the Madurai gangster genre, the queerphobic online backlash and that much discussed ending. Link in reply.
What a deliciously corny addictive show. They really hit upon the perfect recipe. Nothing about this screams realist, its world is not even populated. Just compelling palace intrigue with great characters.

At 10:30 pm last night, reports that @odisha_police detained Dr Randall Sequeira, doctor to Adivasi communities, and Laxman Naik, leader of affected villages opposing @Vedanta_Group’s mining in Niyamgiri and Sijimali. Their whereabouts are still unknown, no access to a lawyer.
NEW | Vedanta seems to be attempting to revive its stalled Niyamgiri bauxite mining project despite the Gram Sabhas’ rejection of mining in 2013, raising concerns that the Odisha government may be using the criminal justice system to weaken tribal resistance and clear the way for corporate interests. @Ayaskant_Das reports.

Extreme weird feeling to be in this Loki vs Nelson sandai. Epdi irundha naa etc. But Nelson, as good as he is, is going to just settle for Jailer 3? I really hope he branches out from here. @ChiniZyaada
Full confidence in Nelson and Anibro ("epdi irundha naa" moment). Enjoy everyone, will catch it next week

Jailer 2 much better than 1 but that unfortunately means people will reach this terribly wrong conclusion. Unless it's just Rajini fandom, it makes no sense.
#Jailer2 will settle all the comparo between Nelson and Lokesh ig.
This year, in no particular order, so far letterboxd.com/lapsed_critic…

The DMK hasn’t spoken a word on SIR, or on the scandalous allegations against Gyanesh Kumar. They should be the last people to complain anyone else being BJP’s B team.

The movie has some fun meta moments and homages to classic Tamil cinema.
One of them here, where Nagesh himself is being explained of a scam like Anbe vaa.
@TheOtherBanana have a detailed podcast series on all these stuff from the movie
DMK has really lost it. This state has become so hopeless so quick.
The attempt of the Congress-led block to meet the Hon’ble CJI despite his letter regarding their own case before the Supreme Court is misguided and goes against the basic tenets of independence of judiciary.
No litigant can meet the judge who is hearing his case before the hearing and influence him for a favourable verdict. The law can’t be different for politicians. The administration of justice requires neutrality and detachment.
It is the right of opposition parties to protest against the Government but they shouldn’t drag the judiciary into the political arena. The Supreme Court must be left to function independently, free from pressure, access, or influence from any quarter. Any attempt to approach or browbeat the Court by exerting extraneous pressure on a pending litigation amounts to interference with the administration of justice.
The judiciary is the last bastion for the common man. Lay your hands off the Court. Focus it on your political opponents!

Sample photo: protestors were roughed up & shoved inside buses and detained. One young man in our bus was slapped by a cop without uniform.
Replying to @RahulGandhi
@RahulGandhi @priyankagandhi @kharge My daughter and her friend who went to join anti-SIR protests in Bangalore have just been detained. Why is this happening in a Congress-ruled state even when the young step out in support of your cause? Please respond.
