It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically.
Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country.
Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case.
Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve.
In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota.
The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

A second tape from the same Washington fundraiser landed this morning, and this time Trump’s handpicked Senate candidate in Texas says he has no control over his own campaign because the orders come from Washington. A retiring Republican senator went on 60 Minutes last night and warned about a “dictator king.” Jack Smith spent his weekend at an anti-Trump concert in a “No Kings” shirt, getting a shoutout from the stage. And we’re tracking something out of Russia that has nothing to do with the election and everything to do with your safety. There are 29 days until the midterms, let’s keep exposing Trump everyday until then. Read it all in the Really American Substack: reallyamerican.substack.com/…

Trump is found to have paid for most of the January 6th protestors. Jack Smith's new document drop shows that the Trump Campaign PAID for travel, hotels, expenses and organizing efforts to bring outside radical organizers to the Capitol on January 6th. Trump and his lackeys planned the assault on our Capitol.
Now it is official.

"The timeline here is the real scandal. They originally had cheaper flights booked, but specifically waited until after the Holyrood election to cancel them and upgrade to £17,000 business-class seats.
They knew exactly how bad it would look to the electorate. So they hid the upgrade until the ballot boxes were sealed, and then charged the taxpayer tens of thousands extra for the luxury. Absolute grifters."
EXCL: Scot Gov cancelled cheap World Cup flights for John Swinney and aides after the Holyrood election ... and booked them onto business class, costing taxpayers potentially tens of thousands more. Nice work if you can get it.

Absolute bollocks! He has gotten what he already had. His “win” is no more than “spin” What he didn’t get was sovereignty. Greenland remains part of the Kingdom of Denmark 🇩🇰 regarding bases, he’s only reopening or rebuilding what the US closed years ago.

Unless she disagrees, obviously. In which case she’s fair game to be brutally assaulted as Nigel Farage watches and laughs.

Those school uniform announcements were made when @Keir_Starmer was PM and @bphillipsonMP was Education Secretary. Stop treating us like we're stupid. No wonder @UKLabour membership is falling.

It’s clear watching Starmer’s final PMQs that the Labour Party has just made an absolutely catastrophic error, blinded by panic, afflicted by petty opportunist factionalism, and entirely disengaged from the national interest in a dangerous world.
What a huge, huge
blunder. 🤦🏻♂️

The United States is sending this 80-year-old man with a limited vocabulary, face painted in orange pigment, hand bruises covered in caked makeup, girdled pants, and hair that is indescribable, overseas to high level meetings with world leaders, ostensibly to speak to America's interests.
But all he will do - like he always does - is insist that up is down and bad is good, and he is smart and they are not, and he will recite grandiose claims of wars he thinks he has ended, he will insult his predecessors, and then - in incomplete and broken sentences - he will rant, ramble, and riff ... it might start on subjects of global import but will descend to windmills, witch hunts, whales, water pressure, and whatever, and the audience will roll their eyes collectively.
He will make a few veiled threats, and then - perhaps - dangle a proposition or a concept of a proposition, filled with hyperbole, which enriches his oligarchy, presented as an opportunity, which all should abide because he is competent and smart, and the audience's eyes will almost roll out of their sockets.
The world leaders that are the recipients of all this are respectful and smiling on the outside but making fun of him privately at every turn. Each and every one of them knows they cannot trust the 80-year-old man, knows that the 80-year-old man is ill and in decline, susceptible to praise and grift, and they know that if they wait it out a little longer, the 80-year-old man will be gone, and they'll have a more comfortable and less risky discourse with someone else soon.

As South Africa, we hosted the World Cup in 2010.
Upon the insistence of FIFA & in accordance with the Host Country & Host City Agreements, we had to waiver laws, by-laws, policies, regulations, processes & the like, to ensure that South Africa became the ultimate hosts of the world during the period.
We passed special legislation specifically to meet FIFA's hosting requirements for the 2010 World Cup. The most important were the '2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa Special Measures Act, 2006 (Act 11 of 2006)' and the 'Second 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa Special Measures Act, 2006 (Act 12 of 2006)'. These laws were enacted to give legal effect to the guarantees we had made to FIFA during the bidding process.
The special laws effected temporary special provisions & exceptions in certain areas, including: Special visa, work permit, & accreditation arrangements for players, officials, media & visitors.
These requirements were not exclusive to South Africa, as Korea & Japan (2002), Germany (2006), Brazil (2014), Russia (2018), Qatar (2022), had to enact the same.
