At this point there needs to be a strong pushback from the people. Govt charges almost 50% tax on the vehicles and 28% when we take it for maintenance. Buying a new car isn’t that cheap and it’s putting a strain on everyone’s pockets. India isn’t a rich country to force something like this. There are so many other sources of pollution which are illegally done and the govt doesn’t take any action but the only thing they take action on is law abiding citizens. Why are law abiding tax paying citizens being harassed continuously when all those law breakers are given a free pass by the govt. there’s stubble burning, dust pollution from construction activity, industrial pollution due to improper waste management. Instead of fixing all that, the govt is busy scraping perfectly good vehicles.
