vacuum fluorescent displays were such an incredible vibe "the enemy of art is the absence of limitations"
I really love this green/amber phosphor retro-futuristic UI aesthetic. EVA captured it especially well. We need to resurrect it.

I insist the people who minimize the current state of Canal St haven’t been there in a while. They now are blocking *crosswalk ramps*, and at least 80% of the actual sidewalk in some parts (some areas a tight single-file space now). Major ADA violation!
And you should see Canal Street. It looks like a Mogadishu sidewalk bazaar without the charm. You can’t even get down the sidewalk. And everything the peddlers are hawking is counterfeit or stolen.

On the train from New York to San Francisco, I slept in the observation car and ate nothing but microwaved hotdogs for 4 days. Over cigarettes in rural Iowa, a young Amish girl told me about her dreams and taught me how to play cards with her homemade decks (I lost horribly).

Instant Soundtracks let you elevate any video with music and sound effects, in one pass. Upload your footage and the model scores it with original music, then watches for moments that call for an effect and places each one at the right timestamp. You can also use the original audio as a reference, so the new score matches its character. Available today in @ElevenCreative, @elevenmusic_io, and ElevenAPI.

San Francisco looks like that because it IS a Latin American City. Not just the name of the City and its districts but also its principal institutions. The Port; El Embarcadero, The Military Base; El Presidio, Civic Center Plaza not square. The cities principal university; Catholic. The old money elites; Catholic (preformatively) The motto; “Oro en Paz Fierro en Guerra” Those colorful houses built into steep hillsides, Stucco, flat roofs, and Mediterranean architecture, The dense, irregular urban landscape are not an accident. They are central to SFs character and identity. Just as much as the famous Victorians. I know all you out of town Yimbys cant wrap your head around this especially your Midwestern head ahh
Western SF on the street level actually looks like a developing city in Latin America but you pay $2 million to live there.

What I find the most fascinating about this post: How much first-principles thinking goes into these seemingly simple prompts. I don't know many people who could write "review exists so leadership catches problems early and moves money and people to right places."
Hi, I'm Felix. I'm an eng lead working on Claude. I love watching people take flight and do things they never thought possible. We often describe that as "being more ambitious" when using AI, which is tricky advice to follow. I wrote a tutorial: felixrieseberg.com/how-to-be…

this is really good for programming!! i’ve been practicing dropping my work at a dime — your mind tends to know exactly where to pick up next time vs if you tried to find a “stopping point”

the funniest part of complaining about tech people discovering sea ranch is that a group of “taste-pilled tech guys” including patrick and john collison literally bought the deteriorating lodge and brought it back to life. the demographic you hate is preserving the thing you love
God I hate how taste-pilled tech guys are obsessed with sea ranch now. Completely tedious signaling also you’re late as hell. Go home.

Our team has been in Singapore this week. Here’s a quick roundup: - We opened our new Singapore office, with 25 of us now on the ground, working alongside customers. - Business in South Asia means moving between languages. Our CEO @Mati joined CNBC Squawk Box to talk about building localized AI, and why voice AI innovation is starting in Asia and spreading globally. - We’re also at the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend as an official partner of Audi Revolut F1. If you’ll be there, get in touch.

1) I think disproportionate focus on financial profitability actually holds back the development of public goods like infrastructure where vast majority of economic value is not captured in the market transaction but positive societal externalities (or mitigating negative ones) that feed into the broad economy. In such an environment, it (somewhat counter-intuitively) makes sense to reduce financial profitability (lower fares) if it drives more network usage. This is why pure market-based approaches have largely failed for public infrastructure. 2) You can tie in the general concept of reducing physical distance with Geoffrey West's work 👇 on the superlinear scaling laws driven by social interaction network density (specifically as a city's population increases, economic outputs like GDP/wages/innovation rise at a power-law exponent of ~1.15. I think that is the real long-term experiment here: What happens to productivity when 50-60M people in the Pearl or Yangtze deltas live within a "1 hour commuter zone" - compare to equivalent Tokyo at ~30-33M. The experiment is a new form/level of urbanization intensity. xitter.cf/GlennLuk/status/129849…

9/ The ideas in Scale revolve around the idea that just like you can predict certain characteristics of biological organizations based on their size, you can also predict certain characteristics about cities based on their size, signalling some natural realtionship between the 2.

For the last 6 years people complained because Union Square was in perpetual decline. Now people are complaining because of its revival? News Flash, nothing besides a chain store can occupy a space like the old Old Navy. Are we expecting a mom-n-pop there?
Hottest thing in SF is once again the opening of a national chain store, lol. This city sucks

Excited to see Banner Health, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the US, partnering with @ElevenLabs to bring AI agents to patient care. With ElevenAgents, patients can now schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments 24/7, without waiting on hold. Everything connects directly to Banner’s medical records, with seamless handoff to a team member when needed. Every agent meets Banner’s AI governance standards, including strict requirements for security, privacy, and HIPAA compliance.
We’re partnering with Banner Health to answer patient calls with AI voice agents, starting with primary care scheduling. Patients call any time of day or night, and ElevenAgents books, reschedules, or cancels appointments directly in Banner’s electronic medical record. When a patient needs a person, the call transfers to a Banner team member with the necessary context. Read more: elevenlabs.io/blog/banner-he…
